Prologue

Her vision was spinning. She felt numb. It was as if she had already left her body. Her eyes were half open as her head was turning left and right out of the unexplainable dizziness swallowing her whole body. She can hear faint squeaking sound of metal wheel as it rolled on the cold cement. Then there were voices yet she could not understand a single thing. In one go she suddenly felt herself breathing heavily, fighting for life as a surge of unexplainable pain smashed her making her groan in pain.

The wind blew as she can perfectly hear the angry smashing of waves against the rocky cliff. In a flash everything came to her. Her eyes snapped open as she sat down. There was pain, there was blood. She was bleeding, badly bleeding. Her eyes were searching as the medics trying to calm her down. ‘Where is he?!’ she shouted slowly drifting to hysterics. ‘Seunghyun! Seunghyun!’ she called out with all her voice as she struggle to climbed down the stretcher with the medics continued in calming her down.

She snapped her head as an explosion shook the place. She felt her heart just sunk as her soul died. Her whole body numbed in a moment as it slowly started trembling. With tears streaming down her cheeks she stared at the black car engulfed in fire. It was as if hell came to life in front of her very eyes. A black car was burning on a fire, his black car was burning.

‘Seunghyun!!!’ she shouted as everything started to blur, starting to drift away from her grip, including everything she has. Heart. Soul. Dreams. Hope. Everything shattered in front of her as it all turned to ashes together with his car. She fell on the foam as she was starting to lose her consciousness.

Then the last thing she could remember was there were medics, she was lying on the stretcher and then there were ambulances, rescuers, crowd. She was wounded; half of her body was terribly wounded. Then there was a car, a wreck car with her fiancé lying barely conscious inside it. Then all of a sudden there was a huge explosion. Her world shattered to nothingness. There she was lying safe on the stretcher then he was there on his car left to burn. She died together with him.

There were so many things to take in, it was as if her world was spinning in a rapid motion that she can’t catch up, can barely keep up.

She slowly lost her consciousness as his last words rang inside her head, repeating, forcing and most of all mocking. Then she remembered his eyes still looking at her like she’s the only one for him. Never blaming just full of affection. His dying lips were still smiling, still pure and still full of love. She can’t bear to look at him yet she can’t take her eyes off him. She held his hand, ready to face death with him yet he gently let go of hers.

‘Promise me that you’ll live the life that was taken from me. Please promise me, Dara,’

Her tears crawled down her cheeks as guilt, regret and everything just squeezed her heart out of life. She smiled, a smile that took her everything to pull off, a smile that only him deserved. A smile that can only be his and will be forever his, the very last thing she could give him.

‘I promise.’
