(Lily's POV)
(Italics represent thoughts and flashbacks)
(3 years later)

It was the summer before her fourth year. Lily has made it through three years of Hogwarts, each year presenting its own challenges. Lily had loved nearly every aspect of her life at Hogwarts. There had been problems with Talia and her minions but Lily kept it mostly to herself which she knew she shouldn't do, she knew that keeping it to herself could only lead to bad things but she didn't want to unload her problems onto anyone else. In her first year, she usually told Charlie but he'd now graduated. Charlie became like Lily's older brother during their time at Hogwarts together.

Well, Lily did say what she was feeling but not in front of anyone. Lily, being introverted, often went on walks by herself. She took Blane with her most of the times. It was in first year when Lily found the spot. She skipped dinner as she wasn't feeling that hungry and went on a walk down near the lake. Other people were milling around so she decided to keep walking. Lily didn't expect to find an isolated place as you could only get so far around the lake before think forest prevented you from going any further but Lily spotted something. There was a line of grass where it was slightly shorter than the rest and it lead to a little opening in the trees. Lily followed the path, not caring where it would go, she just wanted to escape reality for a second, to be alone with her thoughts (a potentially risky thing sometimes as it sometimes lead to an existential crisis). Lily followed the narrow path through the woods and it led to a small opening in front of the lake. It was perfect, just close enough so Lily could see Hogwarts but too far for Hogwarts and it's students to see her. The path didn't continue any further into the woods, trees and bushes blocking the way.

The opening was in a semi-circle shape, a row of trees lining the edge. Wild flowers were scattered around the edge as well, some of them easily recognised, bluebells, foxglove, oxeye daisies. Some must of been planted as tulips, orchids, dahlias and lilys also stood around the edge. The flowers created a sweet scent that could be appreciated by anyone. The grass was the perfect green colour, almost looking to perfect to be real. The grass ended at a small ledge by the lake, just the right height to sit and have your feet dangling in the water. The water was perfectly clear, each pebble, stick and animal visible. Birds tweeted from the trees, making it almost like a scene out of a Disney movie. It was like someone had created this mini haven, the perfect isolation. There was something that made this place perfect, it was strange as normally it wouldn't create perfection, or it was something you'd look at and brush off but no, not this time. This made it feel like a hideaway, discovered only once before Lily found it. Engraved into the tree at the top of the semi-circle were the words Moony and Padfoot. It was just the words, there was no heart surrounding or next to them. The words were engraved with such care, whether magic was used or not, you could tell that it was carved with such love. Lily recognised the words as names, she saw them on the Marauders Map that Harry had given her. Harry never told Lily who Moony, Padfoot, Prongs and Wormtail were and she had never asked. Whether the names were engraved because of a platonic or romantic relationship didn't matter because to Lily, it was those names that made the place perfect.

This was the place where Lily went by herself. Her friends didn't question where she went on her walks which Lily was thankful for because she didn't want to have to explain. Lily spoke how she was feeling, she spoke her thoughts to no one in particular. Sometimes she talked to Blane who gave a tiny meow in response, sometimes she spoke to her surrounding, sometimes she spoke to the person she imagined sitting anywhere in the world who could hear her. She hoped to find that person one day, they didn't exist but in some way they did. She was wanted to find her person, the person made for her, the person you could joke and laugh with, the person you could insult and them not get offended, the person who would love her unconditionally and she would love back whether platonic or romantic. She knew the chances were slim of finding this person but the hope that she would find them glimmered in her mind every day.
