Olivia's P.O.V
*ONE MONTH LATER* (In a SpongeBob voice)
School has been going on as usual with the most boring classes and students who couldn't wait to graduate. Nicholas was still bothering me as usual, but I tried to ignore him hoping he would soon ignore me.
"Hey donut."
I sighed. Just as I thought I could walk away without him noticing, he steps in front of me, bringing me to a halt just in front of the school gates.
"What do you want? And don't call me donut." I added as an afterthought.
"Whoa, chill there. I just wanna hang out."
"Go find your barbies to hang out with. Maybe you can dance together or ride some horses." I said referring to some of the barbie movies I had previously watched.
"Haha, very funny. Besides, I'd rather spend time with you."
"Sorry, no can do. Char, Jess and I are going to the mall." I said with a smirk knowing that this way he wouldn't be able to hang out with me.
"Aw, that's sad. I really wanted to hang out with you." Nicholas gave me puppy eyes.
"Too bad. So sad." I deadpanned and walked away laughing.
*AT THE MALL*
"Guys let's go play at the arcade." Jess said excitedly pulling us along.
We went along with her, not really objecting to her wish. We reached our destination and play some games against each other, Jess mostly winning due to her obsession with arcade games. I won a game or two which was really satisfying since I didn't go to the mall or play many arcade games back where I came from. Looks like my skills were improving. Note the sarcasm.
After that, we decided to go to the little café opposite the mall. This café was way better than the typical Starbucks all teens seem to love. It was quaint and was tucked in the corner of the street. A friendly sign saying 'Dina's Café' welcomed us as we stepped in, along with the chime of a bell above our heads. The café was decorated with a homey feel, couches all around with small round coffee tables in the middle. It was designed to emulate the feel of a home. There were pictures on the wall of Dina and her family, as well as the present shop owner Casey.
"Hi, what can I get you girls to drink?" a friendly girl asked. She looked a little older than us and had a bright smile on her face.
"An espresso for me, a latte for Jess and a hot chocolate for Livvie please. I love your hair." Char added.
That was my best friend, always complementing others. I looked at the girl's hair. Bright rainbow colours was the theme she was going for by the looks of it. Soon we took our drinks at sat at the comfy couches.
"So, I saw you and Nicholas talking today." Jess said wriggling her eyebrows. Why do people always wriggle their eyebrows because I for the life of me can't wriggle mine. They just go up and down slowly. Lacking in motor skills is what I call it.
"Ugh, why do you have to mention that douchebag? Your ship will never sail, Jess. Ask Char about her love life, not me."
"No offense Char, but you don't have a love life." Char shrugged. Turning to me she said, "Did you say you and Nicholas have a love life? Because I sure didn't. Spill."
"Dude, seriously. There is nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING going on between us. I don't like hie, he doesn't like me. Boom Negative and negative equals to major negative. Plus, he was just annoying me today as usual."
"Everyone knows in math that a negative and a negative equals positive." Said Char.
"C'mon Char don't tell me you're on her side too." I gestured at Jess. Jess was a sweet girl but sometimes she was overly obsessed with shipping people. Whether it be from the TV shows she watches, the cheesy books that she reads on Wattpad, or people in real life, once she finds a 'couple' she'll ship them till the end. Seriously though, I wasn't even close with Nicholas even though we lived 6 feet apart.
"But it's Nicholas...how can you not have something juicy to tell us?" Jess whined.
I laughed. "How about we change the topic to something more interesting than Nicholas, yeah?"
"Who's talking about me?"
I turned around to see our topic of discussion standing in front of me.
"We were just discussing on how you were the most annoying person on this planet. And are you stalking me?" I asked suspiciously. This café was not well known among teenagers due to Starbucks being just a block down, so I couldn't imagine the Nicholas Tan walking in at all.
"Maybe. Maybe not." He replied, a creepy smile on his face.
"Ew, don't destroy our girl time by coming here. Go be with your guy friends. Aren't you going to that Mean Bee's party later?" I questioned.
"Well, someone knows my schedule. Stalker much? And Mean Bee?" He broke out into laughter. I'm not going to swear just because of some meanie in high school. In fact, I don't swear at all. It's one of my basic principles of life.
"No, I've just been here long enough to know that she throws a party every week and you never miss out on them."
"Stalker alert."
"Dude, she literally announces that she's throwing a party every single week and you always let out a loud whoop at the end." I announced.
"Eh, whatever. So, you----I mean are you and your friends coming?"
"Parties aren't our scene so no thanks." Jess piped up.
"Oh well, hope to see you there anyway, sprinkles. See ya." He backed out of our space, taking his to-go coffee and saluting to us on the way out. Well that was weird.
"He totally likes you." Char confirmed.
"Not you too." I whined. This was going to be a long afternoon.
*AT HOME*
I finally made it home at sundown and I climbed up the stairs wearily. Stairs were my old enemy. I fell down once as a kid and tumbled down the stairs, and since then, we've never had a good relationship with each other.
"Honey, how was school?" My mother called out as I reached my bedroom door.
"Fine. I tell you more during dinner." I yelled out.
I stepped into my new room that I had been in for about the month. The walls were a light shade of blue with murals of ocean creatures painted on. My single bed was in the corner of the room facing my window. My dinosaur plush toy was placed in the middle. I had a closet on my left and my desk at the corner next to the window and that was it. Simple yet cozy. I put my bag on the floor near my desk as I spotted a piece of paper on top.
I turned it over so I could see what was written on the other side. What? I thought to myself, confused.
