Voices.
Waking up after what it felt like just a few minutes, Mackenzie was surrounded by voices. Her eyes were closed, but opening them wouldn't make such a difference.
Every inch of her body was burning, but she wasn't surprised: she run for days before arriving were she was.

"What happened to her?"
"I have no idea, the last time we saw she was fine."
"Do you think we should call Carlisle?"
"And put her in a bunch of bloodsuckers while unconscious? Hell no!"

Mackenzie was trying to focus on the voices she heard, while trying to figure out who they were.
She was in a pack house, that was obvious, none alse could no about the existence of vampire apart from themselves, shapeshifters and witches.
The latter was not even an option anymore: Mackenzie was the last witch alive.

It took her a few minutes to find the strength to get up form the rather comfortable bed, but she did it, immediately regretting it when she felt lightheaded and had to sit back down.

"Wait guys, I think she is awake!"

A few seconds later she heard the sound of a door opening probably a couple of meters behind her. She realised that the bed had to be on the other side of the room from the door, probably against the wall near the window; she could feel the wind coming from there, the curtains moving a little.
Everything was silent.
She was sitting on the edge of the bed, hands gripping the silky sheets of it, her bare feet pressed on the ground; moving slightly, she shifted her weight from the bed to her legs, trying to look casual, but ready to run towards the window in case of danger.
Mackenzie's eyes were open, thunder inside of them, her lips parted as she waited.

"Mack?"
A voice said.
"Who is here?" She responded quickly, her voice cold and steady.
Was she afraid?
Hell yeah.
But she wasn't going to show it.

She heard the wooden floor cracking under the weight of the unknown man
"Don't move if you don't want to burn alive." She said calmly, eyes flashing red as she spoke.

"Mackenzie, it's me. Sam."
The man spoke sweetly.

Tension filled the room.
Sam Uley stood still with his hands in the air.

"Sammy?" Her voice cracked as tears filled her eyes.
"Yeah Mack, I'm here." He said nodding and motioning her to get up.
She didn't move. Her eyes were directed to the wall, staring blankly at it.

"Can you come give me a hug?" He asked hesitantly, scared the girl would freak out or something.
But when she turned her head towards him, he froze.

Her eyes weren't blue as they used to be. They were white.

And that was when he realised she was blind.

Okay I know, this chapter is really short, but I don't want to rush into thing.
Now we know Mackenzie and Sam are friends and I can't wait for her to meet the rest of the pack!
