Trevor's POV
I was rudely taken off my thoughts by the ringing of the school bell indicating the end of the lessons. I did not like how loud and irritating that sound was.
I put my books in my back and started heading for the door.
" Mr Kingston, a word please." Miss Linda called out to me.
I walked over to her psycheless but quite relieved that the class was almost empty so no one would nose around whatever she'd tell me and make it gossip.
" You've been very absent minded lately which is affecting your performance in the pop quizes. I also noticed Katherine hasn't been in class for the past almost two weeks, you two were pretty close might you know where she is?"
" She went for a medical treatment out of town and she has a sister in this same school you could've asked." I said turning around to leave.
" You haven't said a word about your academics, I could assist you with some tuition." She said placing her hands on the table so I could get a better view of her cleavage.
" I'm not interested."
" You know private tuition could really boost your grades." She purred.
" My mind is not in class and when I have a reason for it to come back to class it will as for now I don't care about whatever quizes I've failed, it's not the end of term examination is it?" I snapped shaking her off a bit and she nodded.
Ernest and Ambrose were waiting outside and goofy grins spread across their faces as soon as I appeared.
"So?" Ambrose asked wiggling his eyebrows.
I walked ahead ignoring them but they caught up quickly.
" A number? A date? A place? Anything?" Ernest asked.
" Did you guys leave your brains at home today or something?"
" Miss Linda has been trying to get into your pants since forever, maybe it would easen you up a bit." Ambrose commented as a matter of fact.
It's not like I was blind but first of all it would be wierd for me, not that I cared and second of all I just didn't want to.
" I don't sleep around and you know it."I said trying to end the conversation.
" I'm sure if it was a certain Petrova you wouldn't hesitate." Ernest commented and I instinctively punched him and pinned him to the wall by his throat. How dare he joke like that and we hadn't even buried her.
An arm wrapped around my bicep stopping me from suffocating him but I didn't let go, I was still not over it.
"Enough." The voice said calmly and I turned to see Nessa, the other girls behind her with looks of disapproval. I let him go and watched as he gasped for air, it made me grin.
" You're avoiding!" Nessa blurted out glaring at me. I couldn't help but see Katherine behind her eyes and it pained me to lie to her the way I did.
"Just because Marcus gave your sister an errand out of town doesn't mean we've become besties." I said coldly intending to scare her off.
She didn't back down, instead she crossed her hands on her chest and took a challenging step towards me.
"I'm pretty sure Katy would have asked you to look after me if she gave you the message to tell me to stay safe. I know my sister."
If I had a heart it would have shattered at those words, but I instead felt a sharp pain across my chest. Those were her last words . I sighed in defeat and shrugged my shoulders at her , did she want me to take her for icecream or something?
" You're bringing me to school tomorrow!" She said victoriously then hopped over to the exit.
I could see the rest were also torn apart by her joy, how could we tell her the only person she had known as family was dead.
" How long is Katherine's trip supposed to take?" Cian asked walking over to Ambrose.
" Sooner or later people are going to start asking questions." Liam's voice sounded from behind us as he appeared, his hair wet indicating he was from swimming.
The rest nodded and I knew we'd have to come up with another cover story but as for now we could just mourn her in peace.
" I could use a distraction." I stated.
" I received this pictures and address from your father's secretary, we should check it out." Melissa said forwarding the information to all of us.
I checked out the warehouse in the picture which brought me to realisation that I was really going to take over my father's title soon. I had been trying to avoid it all my life but that ended up with me being forced to kill an innocent person.
I did a once over of the people in front of me. This was going to be my council. Melissa was my secretary explaining why my dad's secretary would communicate with her, Malesi did the spying and torturing leaving only the stubborn ones for me. Cian was my spokes person, she delivered my messages and closed my deals, Ambrose received my packages for me and made sure they were quality , I gave him the same line of work as Cian to make sure they'd travel together and live out their love , Liam was the brains and dealt with the computers covering most part of our eyes during a mission, Ernest dealt with the accounts, made sure the money was in check and did the shopping for things we needed and I, well I was the alpha.
I nodded giving a go ahead and we were soon on the road leading to what might be our proper ushering in to the mafia.
The warehouse seemed abandoned but Marcus had done a good job teaching me that appearances could be deceiving. We combed the place through and found a middle aged guy in the basement.
Malesi tied him up and wasted no time getting started with her investigation. It always made me smile seeing how she looked so vulnerable yet she was feisty . My though roamed to Katherine and imagined her being here, no doubt she'd be ruthless.
" I got what we need ." She reported to me and I threw one of my star blades to his heart and we watched as he stopped breathing.
I dialed Marcus, something I never imagined myself doing, maybe it was the bitterness I had been bottling up but there was some thrill in this. He picked up on the second ring.
" If you've called to insult me I'm quite busy son." He said absentmindedly.
" Quite the contrary, I just wanted to tell you the mission you assigned is done and.. my council is ready."
I could hear him chuckle from the other end of the line and it was anything but comforting." Let the games begin, the King has finally waken up." He said then the line went dead.
No one is ever one hundred percent sure when making a decision but I had nothing to lose anyway, it was just a game wasn't it? And as Liam's Lamborghini's engine roared to life I realized that maybe I had only been ignoring the inevitable.
The crown did fit.
It was time for the King to sit on his throne.
