''You're alive?!'' Mellissa asked as she approached me. She looked terrified, like I would disappear under her touch if she came too close.'' Careful, I might think you didn't miss me.'' I joked as she wrapped me in a warm embrace which was actually better than I expected. I surprisingly felt at home here, maybe it was just in that flick of a second but what mattered is that I at least felt something right?

'' My turn!!'' Malesi squealed as she literally yanked Mellissa off me and engulfed me in her arms. I hadn't even realized how much I had missed these girls' drama. Cian was still looking at Bancy's lifeless body somewhat relieved but it was as if she felt guilty, she had also been avoiding my gaze the whole time. The boys wrapped me in one bear hug and I threatened to kill them if they spread the word, Katherine did not have feelings! Or so I hoped. I walked towards Cian taking in her pretty shook state, if she was stressed before this I definitely had made her blood pressure rise some notches higher.

She flinched at first when I touched her then she slowly looked up to me, she looked furious! '' You let us believe you were dead!'' She spat , the rage behind her voice being very obvious. '' I didn't exactly have a choice.'' I answered her calmly my gaze dropping, what on earth made me think that killing someone was the perfect way to show up again, well it was epic, but maybe a little too much?

'' Well at least you fought for your life bitch.'' She said her features lighting up as she too embraced me.'' Thank you.'' She whispered , barely audible but I heard it, my first mission was accomplished.

''Get a room already.''
That voice,
I could tell it was him even before I turned to look. He was here, well of course he was, he's the leader of the council duh, but he wasn't here when I entered. Cian was like a sister to him, he wouldn't have let Bancy provoke her like that, but on the plus side him not being here made my mission easier.

''So, where have you beeeen?'' He dragged his words eyeing me up and down as the rest took their seats on the table. It was a large oval shaped table with two seats at the head of table and the rest of the seven seats fell in place casually. Trevor automatically sat at the head with Ethan at his right followed by Cian and Ambrose then the twins and lastly Liam , the seat beside Liam was empty and I assumed that's where Bancy sat, but knowing her, she might as well have sat with Trevor at the head of table. Just the thought of it made my insides turn. I proceeded to sit beside Liam when he spoke up again. ''Oh no no no, darling, you're with me.'' He said signaling the seat beside him. I could hear the twins giggle and I made a mental note to strangle them once we were alone.

Taking my place at the head of table made me feel in charge for some reason, like this is where I was supposed to be all along and I kind of felt bad that I was supposed to take everything from him. He did kill you, my mind reminded me, but it was forced, I tried to defend him, well how many things has he been 'forced' to do? right! He didn't stand up to his father and that made him a liability as a leader. Many people have been hurt and more could be hurt.

I lifted my gaze to find everyone's attention on me, oh right, where I had been. '' I woke up in a small house with a woman taking care of me. She was old and she said she found them trying to throw me over the cliff and offered to take care of me. They told her they'd kill her if I ever came back, and that's why I stayed away even after I healed.''

'' What made you come back?'' Mellissa asked.

'' She passed away.'' I shrugged casually.

''Oh Kath..'' Malesi started

''Don't!'' I said looking up at her as the others nodded in understanding. I could see they had some sympathy for me and I couldn't exactly blame them, just because I didn't have a heart didn't mean everybody didn't have one and actually I kinda felt bad that I was lying to them but emotions got people killed and at the end of the day Nessa was the only one I could really risk it for.

"She's gonna work with us right?" Cian's voice brought my attention back to the meeting. Kingston shifted from beside me and I knew it was gonna be hell on his side because let's face it , his father would never accept me . Then again it wasn't like we were looking for his blessing or anything and in this case we could actually kill him but Trevor wouldn't do it..not with his mother around.

"Wanna be partners?" He asked me while his mouth twitched to a playful grin , his eyes having this gleam that I only saw when he was talking to me and just like that I felt uneasy. Not the ' I might have food poisoning' uneasy or the 'something bad is gonna happen' uneasy but something like the ' you're danger and I probably shouldn't be having these thoughts about you ' uneasy and it made me feel alive.

Strange right?

" That's the lamest proposal I've ever had but it'll do."

Everyone's excitement was visible and almost suffocating but at least no one hugged me. I seriously needed to work on my hate for body contact.

"Y'all do know that Marcus is gonna flip when he hears this... and bancy's death ...I'm not even sure which will piss him off more." Ambrose stated in a rather excited tone and Cian nudged him.

"Not that I'm underestimating you but you gonna be ok going home today?" She directed the question at a spaced out Trevor and he nodded waving her off and dismissing the meeting at the same time.
