Trigger Warning: Mention of knives

Y/N's POV
I made my way over to The Mirage in the late morning. My nerves had calmed and the breeze felt nice. The sun felt warm against my back, and the birds sounded giddy. Upon arriving, I noticed the stairs didn't seem daunting, the handrails didn't seem brittle, and the vines seemed friendly. I went to knock on the door but noticed it was slightly ajar. Why? I opened the door, wary of the darkness that could swallow the shadows of any intruder. "Hello, anyone there?" I called out.

"Who's there?" the groggy voice of Tsuchigomori responded.

"Just me, Y/N," I said. I searched for the light switches, turning the lights on. I walked closer to where I heard his voice coming from, he was sitting in the chair he was in last night. "Did you sleep there?" I asked, confused.

"Yes?" He replies, agitated. "How did you get in here?"

"The door was open and the lights were off," I told him, looking over to the shelf and books still on the floor. "Remember, I told you I'd come back to help you with the mess"

"Oh, yeah." He said, yawning. "What time is it?" He wondered. He looked over to the clock on the wall. It read 11:30 am. He stood up and stretched, cracking his back and neck.

We eventually found ourselves standing by what was a mess of shelves, books, and dust. Lots of dust. We began moving all the books out of the way, so we could get rid of the dust that clung to the shelves and floor. After that was done we started to organize the books. First by genre and then by author. We sat on the floor, hard at work. Maybe I should ask him about what happened.

"Can I ask you something?" I didn't know where to start, but I'd figure it out as I went. I would have to.

"Sure" he replied dryly, still looking at the book in his hand.

"Are the rumors true? About this place?" Maybe I shouldn't hint that I remember, what if he did what he did to that woman, but to me? He looked up, immediately. I had piqued his interest.

"What are you getting at?" he asked, becoming defensive. He put the book in his hand down and grabbed his pipe.

"I think I had a dream about this place, but it could have been real," I replied. That had sounded less embarrassing in my head, shit. "You were there, but it wasn't well..you, the thing I saw looked like you, but it was spider-like" I finished my very brief description, pretending to pay attention to the book in my hand. I couldn't look at him.

"What have you heard?" he asked before disclosing any information.

"Recently I've heard that people who enter the 4 pm library will never return before it was that nobody knew what happened. That was why nobody would come here," I told him, wanting to get answers for myself.

"Mhmm, well I guess you're going to have to find out," he said with a devious look subtly appearing on his face.

"I..okay" I began to retort, but it would have gotten me nowhere. We continued to clean and organize books. By 3:30 we were halfway done. We decided to take a break, so we went across the street to the cafe. Neither of us had eaten anything yet, so we were both starving. We ordered our food and drink before sitting at a small table next to the window. The perfect view of The Mirage. I looked at it for a while, admiring the features that many would judge it for. It was an old building, the brick on the outside stained by the years of changing seasons.

"Why do you come here anyway? You're the only one," Tsuchigomori asked, fascinated by the change of pattern.

"I like the place. Don't get me wrong, I love the city, but it's nice to get away from at least some of the noise" I responded to him whole-heartedly. I knew I was probably the only regular. "Why did you pick this location anyways? There's probably a place where more people would come in" I questioned, pondering.
