Trigger Warnings: Biting
"Someone went in, and out," he said gravely, serious. He looked up at me through his amber eyes. "you let someone out, and you know the rumors"
"Yeah I know the rumors, but they didn't read the future or a red book," I retorted defensively. Why didn't I just end them right there and then? I could have, maybe I should have.
"Mhmm..why did you stop them. You know they knew the rumors and you stopped them," Hanako replied matter-of-factly.
"Well...it was meant to happen. Their book must have said so," I used the excuse of my boundary, but I've never even touched the pages over their book.
"I guess you have a point there," he said, convinced "after all, people can't change their futures.
I nodded in agreement knowing full well Hanako has changed his. The moon rock I kept in my pocket seemed to burn a hole through the cloth to get me to acknowledge its existence, but there was no need for it. "Is that all you need from me?" I asked, wanting to be alone.
"Not quite, you never answered my question. Why didn't you stop them?" he pressed
"I told you, it was in their book"
"I know that, but why? You must have had a reason,"
"I don't know, I just did," I turned away from him to grab a mug from a cabinet. I filled the mug with cold coffee, putting it in the microwave to warm it up. I watched the mug go in a circle, a quiet buzz filled the room as the microwave did its job. Hanako just stood there, watching me.
"Are you sure you weren't just going soft on them. You know sometimes I drop by and see you looking at them" he teased knowing full well why I watched them.
"It's because I don't want them in the boundary," I replied taking a sip from the now steaming mug of coffee. My glasses became fogged, my vision blurred. I took them off and then cleared the glass with a cloth.
"..soft," he mumbled in an attempt to agitate, "well I'll be on my way" he stated before vanishing.
"That damn kid," I said to myself, walking to my bedroom to grab clothes. I set my mug down on the dresser, grabbing comfy clothes for my usual night in. I went to the bathroom and started the shower, letting the water warm up. The steam rose, creating a calming effect. I grabbed a towel and set it on a hook right outside the shower curtain. I undressed and got in, allowing the water to flow down my body in slow streams.
By the time I had finished, the whole bathroom was full of steam. Shit. The mirror was fogged, but it didn't matter. I wrapped the towel around my slender waist, my hair clinging to the sides of my face. I wiped off a section of the mirror with my hand, turning to grab a towel to wipe it dry. I did, turning back, their face. It was reflected in the mirror. I stared, unsure of what was going on. I looked behind me and they weren't there, and neither was their face in the mirror once I looked forward again.
It doesn't make sense. Why? How? I got dressed and quickly exited the bathroom. I grabbed my now lukewarm coffee and went to what is my living room. The soft light emitted from the lightbulbs felt warm, comforting. I grabbed a book and sat on the couch to read.>Time Skip<
I woke up on the couch, as usual. A book rested on my chest and a mug on the floor. I put the book back on its shelf and the mug in the sink. I got ready for another day of dealing with loud, obnoxious people. It's generally quiet, but there always seems to be one or two people who don't understand a "Please be Quiet" sign.
Why can't it be Sunday, at least Y/N would be here, they never cause issues? Well, except for going into the library. Maybe they could work here, it'd be so much easier if someone else could deal with the people. Some peace and quiet are all I ask for, but it seems that even at a library people don't give a shit.
