The Heartbreak

chapter 4-Hazel

I stare at him dumbfounded. Did he just ask me to take my dress off? "Hazel!" He says firmly and I nod because I don't know what else to do. "I'm Stella", I say.

"Don't worry I'm a doctor.", he says. Then the realization hits me. He is a doctor so he didn't ask me if I was alright. He knew I wasn't and needed help. He asks if he can take the dress of and I nod still unable to form words because of two reasons
1) The pain is like hell and
2) He is working dangerously close to me and I cant breathe.

He slowly unzips the dress and helps me take out my right hand out of the dress. It still hurts but when he is there nothing else seems to matter. He carefully sees the wound caused by the glass.

"How did you get hurt?" He asks in an angry voice. "I .....actually....um" I can't answer the question because that is not something good girls do. Thay dont tell anyone about the hurt, they are supposed to betray their boyfriends but they cant even lie so I keep quiet.

"Answer me!" He says. When I don't answer he says" I'm going to fetch the kit from my trunk when I get back I need an answer or I'll tell about it to Matthew." With this he gets up and goes out of the room closing the door behind him.

I sit there in shock without responding or moving. He comes back after a few minutes and then sits beside me. He wears his gloves and picks up a plucked and removes the bits of glass from my arm when he is done he dresses it with antiseptic and cloth.

"Here now it's done, remember to come back and get the dressing changed in three days. I'll give you a medicine, take it twice a day." He says before removing his gloves. "Do you have another dress, because if you wear that again it may hurt and the wound might swell" he says.

"No" I says abruptly before turning my head in another direction."I can't change or else Matthew and my family might see my wound" I say. He shakes his head in inlusion." Really?! Are you kidding me? You almost got stiches and you are afraid your family might know? This is something that your family needs to know. Do you even have common sense?" He shakes his head in disbelief. "Forget that. Tell me how did you hurt yourself."

"I... actually... I cant tell you." I say. "Why?" He asks. I keep shaking my head in order to dodge the question. "Why are you here? This is a family gathering." I ask instead.

"Matthew begged me to come." He says. "That feels like Matthew." I say. "Don't change the topic, answer me Hazel."
