When someone's heart breaks, so does a piece of our world; this creates fissure, valleys, and even cracks in the pavement. You may be wondering 'okay, what's your point?' well I am going to tell the story of the Grand Canyon.

During a nice warm summer day. A little girl and a little boy around the age of 8 are playing in a yard. As the laughing boy chases the squealing girl, their parents watch on. Laughing at their children and in their own conversation. Several years later, the kids are now teenagers and a crush was developed. But as said earlier, heart break breaks the world. This particular crush was from the girl to the boy. Stereotypical, I know but just hang in there. The boy was popular, the girl had a good amount of friends as well. But they are still as close ever. Crush has grown to love, but still no reciprocation from the male.

Senior Prom. Worse. Week. Ever. Everyone is confessing to each other and there are many heartbreaks but also many new relationships. The girl approaches the male and his group of friends. "...Can I speak to you alone." She said nervously, she was going to do it. She was going to confess and ask him to prom. After walking a few feet, out of ear shot from his friends, she finally did it. "I like you... a lot. Actually, I've liked you since we were little. A-and I was wondering if you wanted to go to prom with me?" as she stuttered through her sentence. All the male did was blankly stare. Suddenly an abrupt roar of laughter erupted from him. "Why would I go to prom with someone who is ugly, fat, and doesn't even know how to get home by herself?" he said through laughter.

As the final words came out a very violent earthquake happened. The girls heart shattered just like the buildings around her. That earthquake was because of the formation of the Grand Canyon. A childhood crush is hard to deal with, but it can also harm a person mentally. One word can damage someone forever. It takes one word, for a family to lose a member. One rejection and a brother loses a sister. One harsh statement, a mother cries for the loss of a child. The wrong answer can make someone take their life. So, watch what you say and how you react, or there could be more earthquakes and tsunamis. You could end up like my old friends and either be scattered in the ocean and in a necklace around my neck, or be friendless because everyone knows that you made your childhood friend kill themselves.
