A lot of people believe in miracles or fate. They might also believe in a higher power that decides the important things. Sometimes they rely on praying to that higher power in hopes that they will listen. These people dedicate some of their time and energy to pleasing a higher power so that they can be happy.
I am not one of these people.
Rather than a higher power, fate, or destiny, I believe in cause and effect. I believe in irony, and getting lucky. I believe the only people who can shape our world are ourselves. Upon all of these beliefs, my favorite to ponder has to be the Butterfly Effect.
The Butterfly Effect, if you are unaware, is an incredible phenomenon. It's when a small, trivial thing sets off a chain of events- ultimately with a profound and epic ending. One example would be Adolf Hitler. A lot of shitty things happened that may not have happened if only he had gotten into that damn art school. He was an incredibly good artist, by the way. check out the picture I included at the top. Yeah- he did that.
The Butterfly Effect is an incredible thing. An unpredictable thing. It can leave the world better or worse. It can change people. It can redesign the course of history. With the Butterfly Effect, it leaves "what-ifs" and lessons learnt in its wake.
It also leaves me standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down into the water below. No, I assure you this is not a soon-to-be suicide attempt. I'm here because- well- maybe I need to bring you up to speed first. After all, we just met. Nice to meet you by the way. I'm Piper Williams.
And if you do not believe in the Butterfly Effect yet, then perhaps I can change your mind.
Allow me to indulge you, as I tell you the story of a girl who ate a cup of yogurt.
The bitch was lactose-intolerant and she did it anyway.
Yes, I am that bitch.
