Ever since he could remember, Ron had known something was different about him.
He was a madcap, and a confused one at that, which is not a particularly safe mix.
It should be easy enough, he reckoned, to decide if he liked boys or girls.
Everyone around him seemed to know, but was in denial.
Harry was asexual.
Ginny was bisexual.
Hermione was pansexual.
And Draco Malfoy was demisexual.
Well, at least, that's what Ron figured.
Unlike Harry, who was much too preoccupied with protecting the wizarding world from the infamous You-Know-Who to focus on his sexuality, Ron had a great deal of time on his hands.
Sure, he could study, but why bother?
He had Hermione as a study partner for the upcoming spring exams.
He could manage another month without opening another book about transfiguration or useless divination.
Besides, Ron enjoyed watching the secrets his friends kept develop.
He'd watch Ginny and Luna slowly start to sit closer and closer as they studied together by the lake.
He'd snigger while Hermione had an internal battle about whether to sit with Pansy Parkinson or Draco Malfoy when she was forced to relocate from her usual table in Potions. (Sure he'd had feelings for her for a short while, but he now felt more of a sibling connection with her now)
He'd smirk to himself as Harry insisted his infatuation with Malfoy was loathing.
Ron could tell someone's sexuality by watching them for a short while.
The only problem was he couldn't figure out his for the life of him.
It was infuriating and it caused him constant arousal.
Ron knew that sexuality was a spectrum, but he wanted to be sure of his own.
How else could he pursue a relationship?
"Oi, Mate!"
Ron looked up from his Flying with the Cannons, to find Seamus and Dean beaming down at him.
They had come out as a couple recently.
Ron remembered meeting them at the Three Broomsticks. Seamus had avoided all but Dean's eyes. While Dean had fidgeted to the point of shaking the entire table with his knee.
Hermione was the one to break the tension as always. Her face was so sincere and open when she confessed to her pansexuality, that Seamus met her eyes and Dean's knee stilled.
Since that day, Harry had made sure no one, not even that homophobic slimeball Cormac McLaggen and his goons, got to the couple.
"Whatcha thinking about? You look like you got bogeys for lunch."
A laughing Seamus sat next to him. Dean looked ready to sit at his side, but as there was no room he settled in a nearby armchair looking twitchy and uncomfortable.
Seamus chuckled and shook his head slightly. Ron turned to the couple with an earnest expression.
"How did you know you were into blokes?"
Dean shook so hard with laughter that he fell out of his plushy armchair. Seamus's face heated considerably and his hands began to fidget with carpet beneath him. He relaxed slightly when Dean slithered to his side, managing to make space by settling Seamus into his lap.
