Chapter 2: Protected and Loved

"Alex, wake up!"

"Wake up! It's already 5:54pm!"

As I started to open my eyes...I saw a handsome face with a hint of Spanish—A face which 

shows power, bravery, and strength.

 He had thick eyebrows that whenever you look at him...you may think that he is a very brave and all mighty man that would never get scared of anything at all. (But no...he really gets scared when it comes to snakes...real or not.)

This handsome face belonged to my crush, Michael in short 'Mike'.

I was mesmerized by his face and at the same time I wondered.

Why—Is he here in front of me when he should be flirting with his ex-girlfriend instead?

Could it be...nah it couldn't be…but what if?

But he was staring at me.

And I saw a hint of annoyance and impatience on his face which was so 

scary and cute at the same time.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE JUST DAYDREAMING?

DON’T YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS ALREADY?!" this time he yelled at me.

But I just ignored it for I was still daydreaming...

"What time is it?" I asked him calmly as if nothing is wrong. 

But as I looked at the sky...I noticed that it was getting dark...though there was still a hint of 

small light from the setting sun…

Then I remembered that there are lions that roam around our country because of the curfew 

and if anyone who breaks that curfew will be eaten alive. These lions are being controlled 

through a certain spell which I do not know of. The higher up officials of our country made 6:00 

pm as our curfew as they, including those spellcasters will be searching for something at the old 

airport.

Hmmm...interesting...but I wonder what could they be doing there—

"We only have approximately 5 minutes till those lions will wake up and eat us alive!" He 

panicked.

And then I snapped back to reality as he panicked.

"WHAT?!? Shoot I overslept! We better hurry up. I think we can still make it there in only 2 or 3 minutes." I replied with a hint of panic in my voice.

"Let's go." He ordered.

After 4 minutes of running our school gate was now visible.

Only one more minute until we-

"Shoot,

shoot,

shoot!

Oh no!"

I stumbled upon a sleeping lion!

As it slowly woke up, Mike whispered

"I'll protect you, no matter what, that is if you become my girlfriend."

 How could he say such absurd things during this time?!

But then I nodded my head immediately as I was thinking for our safety and

 of course I've always been waiting for him to ask me that question.

As the lion prepared to attack us Mike quickly carried me up bridal style and then ran very fast, just enough to reach our school gate. Our school gate had this magical barrier that will make wild animals unable to pass through it.

"Pheeeww! That was so close. Thanks to you we still have our lives"

As I said that in relief I saw him grinning from ear to ear.

"Yes...

And I've got a girlfriend." And then he tried to kiss me. But I stopped him with my hand. 

"Sorry. But I'm only reserving my lips and purity for my future husband." I stuck my tongue as I 

said that.

 "Then I'll make sure no other man gets close to you than I do...except for your 

father though. And then no one else but me." And then he smirked as he said that.

We went to the dining hall where our classmates were. After we ate our dinner he escorted me to 

my room. And yes, our school is a boarding school and we only get to go home every weekend. 

And that is also the only time wherein there is no curfew at all.

Before my 'boyfriend' (I just love saying that even though it was kinda awkward) went back to his room he just kissed my forehead instead and told me to call him or just text him anytime if I needed him or if I am scared...

and then I thought;

‘ never in my entire life would I call him to come over if I am scared, except for the lions though.’

 But as he told me that I did feel that I was protected and at the same time being loved while I was still in this place away from home.
