So song 'Habit' by Louis Tomlinson talks about long lasting relationship. Louis says that he ruined everything once again and they both (he and his lover) knew that this was an end, but he wasn't ready give up. Also Louis says that his person forgave him again, but he already was ready for break up.

"I always said that I'd mess up eventually."
"I know you said that you'd give me another chance.
But you and I knew the truth of it in advance.
Mentally, you were already out the door."
"Never thought that giving up would be so hard"

He was used to what they had, obviously. He loved this person too much and just wasn't ready to let go him, but he knew that it was necessary. 'Habit' that is the name of the song and that is how he calls his partner. But we can understand that it's not a habit in terms of ordinary inconvenience due to lack of a person. He literally calls his lover his 'high' and 'filling'. Louis depends on this person, his life focused on him and he don't know how live without himself.

"You're the habit that I can't break
You're the feeling I can't put down"
"You're the high that I need right now"
"I'll always need ya
In front of me, in front of me"

This moment is so Larry, but let's think objectively. Louis says:

"It took some time 'cause I've ran out of energy
Playing someone I've heard I'm supposed to be
Honestly, I don't have to choose anymore"

I think this moment don't need explanation. Louis literally cry, that he pretended. It was said in 'Director's cut:We made it': "Put your fucking mask on". We all remember how yellow presses poured Louis shit and lied about him so obviously. But Louis just acted on the script imposed on him by somebody (I don't say Modest, oh, no I do). In Hollywood a lot of hypocrisy, role, PR moves and hiding the truth, which for some reasons will prevent for making money.

"Gave me the time and the space
I was out of control.
I'm sorry I let you down.
Guess that I know what I already know
I was better with you
And I miss you now"

Louis says that they broke up. His person gave him time and space. They both knew that this was necessary , but Lou wasn't ready for it at all. He says that he was out of control. I believe that Louis often did something that hurt his lover. Maybe he was broke down by pressure, which exerted on his by constant lies. Probably he went to the gap, but I think we will never know what exactly happened.

Louis know that this person made him better, maybe line about 'go out of control' is about his disruption after break up. Probably all that time when they were together he restrained himself, but when their relationship ended, he didn't care. Again, I think we will never know this.

Louis speaks with his person through this song. But in fact he doesn't ask him to return. That says about Louis' maturity and understanding of situation (or about that they are together again and it's just hasn't got meaning). This song is apology. Lou takes full responsibility for what happened (what ever it was). In my opinion in conflict both sides fault, but Louis felt more responsibility and probably he was leader in this relationship. I don't claim, but he could be just older than his partner and felt that he had to carry everything and take care of the person.

Can I just say about small reference to Larry and One Direction generally?

"And it's been ages, different stages,
Come so far from Princess Park"

I think most know, that Princess Park, it's residential complex, where One Direction was living after X-Factor. Everybody had separate apartments except Louis and Harry, they were living together.
