Naruto Uzumaki

Start of flashback
"(Y/n)! Naruto Uzumaki! Sakura Haruno! Sai...uh- Sai! Yamoto! I hereby permit you to go on this mission to escort Sasuke Uchiha back to the hidden leaf!" Lady Hokages voice boomed as she spoke in good spirits, eying all of you with pride.

Looking at each of you, she knew you'd be able to do it, you'd all come so far from the small children you used to be, it almost made her tear up as she realised the responsibility you were now ready to fully handle.

"HAI!" You all replied eagerly, giving eachother huge smiles.

The day had finally come.
Today was the day....you would bring back sasuke, and you were sure of it!

End of flashback

Correction. You thought  you were sure of it.
You were wrong.
So very, very  wrong.

You turned corners bitterly, pressing onwards with Naruto, Sakura and Yamoto. No matter how far you ran, it felt like it was all getting further and further away from you. More hallways. When you turned more corners there were long halls, all of them holding and empty and cold feeling making your stomach churn uncontrollably.

Dread built up.

Your mind clogged with the unbelievable tension you felt.

Nobody ever said being a Shinobi was easy, but you hadn't expected Sai to turn his back on you all.

Regardless of you and the others hate, he had become part of Team Kakashi as you had, and you'd learned to get along with him and even heard about his real smile a few minutes ago, so how had it come to this?

Yeah, you should stop asking questions you already knew the answer to.

You turned another corner ready to run down more hallways, but there was a light.

Light! That was what you needed right now!

You felt yourself running faster towards the doorway, sandwiched in between Sakura and Naruto.

Wait.

You could hear a voice.

Not just any voice. Sai's voice.

Sakura found a burst of energy coming from the unbelievable anger she felt towards the male and ran ahead. You could see her gripped fist filled with chakra as she barrelled towards the entrance. Sai was dead for sure, not like that was a bad thing though.

"Sakura wait!" Naruto shouted after her and increased his speed.

Sighing, you increased yours, making sure you and Naruto were level since -once again- he'd lost his cool.

Just as you were reaching your target, he tripped.

'How ironic ' you thought. Whenever you get closer to Sasuke, you stumble and fall, and lose speed, then it seems like he's further away than he was in the first place.

Before his body hit the ground, you caught him on your arms length and pushed him back upright.

But when you fall you always have friends to help you back up, and make everything that little bit better.

That was the beauty of Konoha.

Naruto thanked you under his heavy breath and grabbed your arm, pulling you to run with him.

Then you got closer, and the light enveloped both of you.

"Naruto too, huh," Looking through the blinding rays, you could see Sasuke standing above you all, Sakura looking up at him with misty eyes and Sai holding his face, "(Y/n)'s here as well." He spoke icily as he made comments about your team, going temporarily quiet when Yamoto replied and spoke to him.

"Sasuke Uchiha, Team Kakashi's purpose is to bring you back to Konohagakure." Yamoto finished.

Sasuke said something about Team Kakashi that you didn't hear, the wind was too loud, but what you did hear is, "That day when I left you lying in the rain, I only spared your life on a whim."

That made you angry.

You remembered that day so clearly in your mind, it was burned into your memory, written in permanent ink.

Already annoyed, you got ready to attack.

Whoosh!

Sasuke was next to Naruto in a flash.

Your brain registered in shock as you watched them exchange words and listened intently. Naruto finished of as inspirational as usual, but you were left no time to awe at his words as Sasuke quickly attacked.

There was a sound of skin slapping on skin as you grabbed his arm firmly, not letting him slam his sword into Naruto's back. Stupid front-stabbing-backstabbing bastard.

"(Y/n)...that was the correct block." Was all you heard as you felt something electrify you so hard you fell back.

In that instant, you couldn't move.

You looked over at the fight but everything seemed to be going in through one ear and coming out the other. It was all a blur. Why did you come here again?
No, don't ask yourself that (Y/n), you need to get back on your feet and fight.

You weren't fighting for yourself, you were fighting for Sasuke, your friend.

You got up and picked up Naruto too, but by the time you were ready to fight it was already over and Sasuke slid his sword out of view.

Him, Orochimaru and Kabuto burned away into nothing.

Slowly, you could see Naruto fall to his knees, then curl himself into a little ball. He slammed his hands into the ground angrily and you could feel the dirt vibrate, "I wasn't able to do anything. I- I-"

You wanted to look away badly, but you couldn't leave him like that.

Tears streamed down his face as he tried to hide the emotions he held in constantly.

Your heart broke in two and you walked towards him, not caring that everyone was looking at you.

Mechanically, you bent down to his level and sat in front of him. He could feel your presence and stopped his tears to listen to your heavy breathing. He could tell you were waiting for him to look at you but he couldn't stand to look into your eyes at that moment.

He was pathetic.

Something in deep within him was telling him to look up at the same time.

When he'd came back to Konoha his feelings were confused. He remembered his love for Sakura and it hit him hard in the face, but he'd thought he loved you. Could it have just been like?

He looked up at you.

A smile was etched onto your face. Forced, but it was the thought that counted.

"We'll try again, and again, and again. Until we get him back." You gave him a closed eyed smile and he watched your lips movement.

Why did he feel so drawn to them? Were they soft?

He felt himself lean in before he could stop, slowly bringing your lips together.

Your eyes fluttered open in shock as you looked at his closed eyes in alarm, but you slowly sank into the feeling, kissing back.

When you needed air, you broke the kiss and backed away slightly, looking into his shimmering, swollen blue eyes.

Neither of you had any idea on how to process what just occurred between you two, so you parted with a blush and walked home in silence.

Sasuke Uchiha

Life hit you hard. It knocked you down, but you were here again, ready to give it another try. Things had been tough, all the people you'd loved left you one by one, but by doing so, you'd gained something you'd forgotten about....

Friends.

When that happened, things went wrong once again, and even Sasuke left you before you figured out your feelings properly.

You hadn't seen him for ages and this flame couldn't continue that long without it being snuffed out, especially when its blown away by the other party, at this point it could just be particles of dust that lifted in the air from past memories, but perhaps you were wrong about that analogy.....

Sasuke held all the answers, if you saw him, you knew your body would either tell you to kill him, or ignore him

The halls came to an eventual end as you felt your speed increase. There was sunlight streaming through the dark cave which made your eyes burn from the intensity, but was also welcoming and peaceful. You felt like you could just fall right into it and have no worries, but you had a meeting with the devil to tend to first.

From behind you somewhere you could hear someone trip but they quickly got back up and carried on running, so you didn't bother turning around. They could help themselves at this moment anyway, your team only had the strongest people, a little ditch in the ground wouldn't hinder them from their goal.

The sunlight consumed you, and you ran out, spotting Sakura's pink hair straight away.

"Sakura." You calmly shouted out to her, each letter said icily with a tone of command. (Just imagine the female Itachi, basically this personality), "Leave Sai."

You expected her to reply but when you got closer you realised her hand had stopped gripping Sai's collar.

That was immediately strange and suspicious.

Her mouth was agape like she'd just seen a ghost and as you followed her tilted upwards line of sight you saw a figure.

Instantly, you knew who it was.

You took a step back and looked up properly, seeing him in his full 'glory'.

His hair was a little longer and his skin was somewhat paler then it was before. His clothes were absolutely ridiculous and the look in his eyes said a lot about the person he'd become.

Trash.

Absolute T.R.A.S.H.

Trash you loved with all your heart. Trash that you hated with all of it too. You felt like strangling the life out of him at that second. The feelings of hate were intense, but you knew, if you gave into them, you'd be no better than the douche in front of you.

It would just be easier if you were dead, so you didn't have to go through all this inner turmoil.

You sighed softly as he skimmed past you and went straight to Naruto, who was standing in the clear, level ground and looking up at Sasuke with squinted eyes.

He spoke a lot more than he would've ever if you guys were still at the leaf, and you instantly knew he couldn't give two shits about what he said to you all.
Clearly, he thought you were weak and under him.

You held in growl and watched him in disgust.

How much more you could take you had no idea.

In the time a pin could drop and before your eyes could properly register what was happening, Sasuke wasn't at the top of the cliff anymore.

You quickly scanned the area, making sure he wasn't anywhere near you or your teammates.

Your prayers went unanswered and your heart slightly dropped as your eyes landed on his figure, his arm slung lazily across Naruto's back. Him and Naruto exchanged many words, having a little conversation really, but there was the fact Sasuke didn't do conversations.

He unsheathed his sword, the blade glistening and reflecting the sunlight, but before any real damage was dealt, Yamoto stepped in, and battle ensued. The fighting was fierce, him able to almost take down all three of you. Every justu you unleashed felt like it was having no effect. It was like he was purposely ignoring you, just simply dodging your attacks and going off to fight someone else.

Ouch. This was the same sasuke you used to train with.

You felt a pain in your heart.

Everything.....was breaking all over again, falling away into little pieces.

You saw Sakura get tossed aside from the corner of your sight, drawing your attention to what the battle had now become.

All of your teammates were limp, their bodies unable to move at all.

You unleashed a powerful lighting style justu towards Sasuke.
The flash of light was blinding, and you were sure you'd got him.

Had you done it?

Your hopes went up greatly, a small smirk on your face.

A hand gripped your wrist.

Oh shi-

In no time at all, the warm hand pinned your wrists against the cool, raggedy surface of the rock.

Looking directly at you was the man who held such a big chunk of your heart in his hand. His onyx eyes were black as you remembered, their dull and monotonous gaze boring into the confines of your soul. His pale face was perfection, something you could just stare at all day. His skin on yours, the feeling of having him hold your hand.

Everything about him brought back so many memories you forgot about fighting him, about him being an enemy.

Through the darkness of his eyes you could see light.

You shivered involuntarily as his eyes beadily took in your whole face and body.

You....had changed a lot.

Not so much personality wise but physically, he could see the appeal.

Your eyes were confused though your face was emotionless, he could still read you just fine....

He neared your face dangerously closely, as if he was pulled in by a magnet. The look in your eyes was so familiar, it drew him to you, like a moth to a beautiful, blue flame. He felt something in his heart he hadn't felt towards anyone other than his brother in a long time.

He felt desire.

He leaned in an tilted your chin up, flinching slightly at the look of pain in your eyes. He was the cause...
...it was all his fault.

Soft lips caressed yours as Sasuke kissed you with every ounce of love he had left, every ounce of emotion, and through his kiss you could feel it all. Not only could you feel his desire and love for you, you could feel his hate, his pain, his anger and remorse.

You chose not to pull away.

You kissed back with passion, feeling his burning fire exhilarate your empty soul.
It was then you realised....Sasuke couldn't extinguish the fire. He couldn't extinguish it because him blowing on a flame to put it out would only make it bigger. It was his Uchiha family trait. So him trying to blow it out all these years, had just made a bonfire.

He pulled away first, opening his eyes and looking at you with a crease between his eyebrows.

How was he going to let you go?

The full consequence of his actions and feelings dawned upon him as he watched you try to catch your breath.

He had to leave.....He had to leave you now, like this...

No, he couldn't. The first time was bad enough.

He heard Orochimaru and Kabuto appear just as your teammates begin to move again.

He would figure something out.

In a flash, he wasn't holding you anymore, and was beside Orochimaru and Kabuto, before disappearing into nothing more then ashes.

Gaara Of the Desert

"Baka Baka Baka!" You cursed silently, tears streaming relentlessly down your face as you tried to remember how to breathe.

Deep in. deep out. Repeat.

That was the way, that was the way. Yes, that was the way.

This wasn't a mission you were assigned to, it was what you had to do. The harsh wind mixed with sand swirled around. The uplift from a recent sand storm. No doubt it was calming down now, which means you had come at the perfect time. Kankuro was at back at the sand, hurt, battered and in coma, Temari was trying desperately to hold up her big sister face, but cracks of pain had left her shattered.

You'd only just found out what you wish wasn't a reality. The way Tema kept it from you was actually kinda amazing, you hadn't suspected a thing until you heard people talking about how 'The Kazekage had been captured saving his people'.

How had Gaara -your strong panda Kazekage- been captured.

Another onslaught of tears dripped down your face and fell away. Waterworks weren't your thing, you hadn't cried for years upon years, but today the pain was unbearable.

You ran for ages, not stopping for anything. It was three day journey, but you didn't care, if you didn't stop, you'd make it in half that time. A hot day passed, a cold night time froze you, then the sun came over the mountain as you started to see something.

It looked...like a white blob with a man on top of it.

As you neared, you recognised the unmistakeable black cloak with red clouds. The blob started to look like a huge white bird. It could only be....

The Akatsuki.

Your tears ceased as you saw Gaara.

Was he sleeping? Was he well? Had they drugged him? What was happening? Questions with no sure answers filled your over active mind.

You approached from behind with a snarl no-one had ever seen.
You weren't angry often, but when you were, you were scary.

Leaping up, you unleased a special justu, hitting the man and bird directly. The water seeped into their veins, ready to pop at any moment. More specifically, whenever you wanted it to.

"(Y/n)!" Kakashi and Naruto said in unison, shock coating their faces.

Naruto got into a fighting stance as Deidara got back up, doing his best to smile at you, "We'll get Gaara back together, believe it!"

Tears filled your eyes once again, but you ensued battle with Deidara before they fell.

Immediately, you used your justu, not wanting to drag out the battle.
Bam!
The bird blew up.
He didn't.

"Hahahahaha!" Laughing, Deidara held his gut, "What a beautiful, explosive demonstration of art! What an amazing woman!"

Your mouth hung open.

Why was he okay? You hadn't done anything wrong. This justu was one you'd mastered as a child, under the command of your grandfather. "It -it should've worked," Your voice cracked.

You knew things didn't always go your way, you knew sometimes everything could go wrong, but now was NOT one of those times. Now  should not be the time that everything backfired.

Your eyes became blurry, then something pierced you.

You stood in shock for a few seconds, waiting for yourself to calm down. Thoughts raced through your mind at an impossible rate. Something finally clicked after a few moments of that feeling.

His body....was not made of flesh and bones completely.
The clay.

"I like you!" He shouted suggestively, smiling a bit too wide.

You looked on him with pure disgust infused with your features. Your face twisted into a scowl you didn't know you were capable of making. The resentment towards this man- no- this animal  was too great for you to ignore.

You lunged forward, back into battle.

(TIME SKIP)

You clutched your sides. You'd almost done it alone, completely finished Deidara off. How had you let this happen?

Gasping, you gurgled and choked, shakily forming your water justu. If Deidara had implanted those little bombs that were in his own body into yours then your justu should cancel it ou-

Click! Success!

You gulped in as much air as you could before jumping up and running in the direction they'd left.

Thump!
A heavy weight on your shoulder forced you to stop in your tracks.

You could practically feel his warmth from his hand alone.

Naruto Uzumaki, your teammate.

"(Y/n)." He stated your name in the most serious tone you'd ever heard him speak in. The hand on your shoulder slid down and turned you around with force, making you look at him, "I lost a friend already," pain flashed through his blue eyes, "I won't  lose another."

You gulped, trying to hold back tears. You didn't want to lose Gaara. He was the only one there for you when Sasuke left the team, the only person who cared enough to see your suffering when his own was so great. You didn't want Gaara to die like this because you had so many more firsts to give him, so many things to tell him. Gaara couldn't die before he found true happiness, what kind of a death is that: to go unloved and uncared for before death.

Over your dead body.

You looked away and down at the sandy lands, seeing it lift and fall repetitively. The grains were so light separately they couldn't help but get lost in the push of the wind, but together, they firmly made the huge sand city you called Suna.

It would be better to go as a team.

Nodding at him, you all shared a look of disdain and gave chase, but they were nowhere to be found.

You searched the way Deidara had initially left, but the sands had no signs of being moved unnaturally....

(TIME SKIP)

You leaned over, hunched and whimpering as you stared with a clenched jaw at Gaaras dead body.

He was dead....and you'd let him die.

This was all your fault.

You felt everyone in Suna looking at you in dismay, whispers of 'poor thing' floating around already. You hated pity, but what you hated more was the fact Gaara was gone. Gone from this world. His eyes were closed and he wore troubled expression. You'd heard when people die they're finally at peace, free from this world, but the crease between his eyes was enough to say otherwise. He wasn't at peace, he wasn't free. He'd died plagued with the fact his people may not survive without him.

You watched as the crowd parted, seeing Granny Chiyo walking towards his body.

You didn't care enough to look up until you saw a light.

Her hands were over Gaaras body, she looked like she was healing him.

"You-" You hiccupped, "You can't- he- he's gone," Tears dripped down your face as you buried your face into your hands as not to look at her.

"I can't.." She said sadly, "Let a young love die because of my mistakes,"

Love. That's what you and Gaara had, you loved eachother, more than anything in this world.

You'd finally figured it out when he wasn't here with you.

"All my life, I made the wrong choices, but now, I can die knowing my last choice wasn't bad. I choose to save the future generation of Shinobi. Only you can change the Shinobi world. Fix the mistakes our generation made, all we need is people like you-" She coughed and you rushed over to pat her, your hand over your mouth to stop the sick feeling you'd had.

"I'll help you."

Naruto bent down, putting his hands over hers.

"I truly believe.." She started, her eyes glossing over as she looked at each one of you, from leaf or Suna, "You can fix the mistakes...of the past," Just like that she passed, you still holding her.

You felt her body grow cold just as something you could only describe as miraculous happened.

Gaaras black circled eyes fluttered open. Everyone watched in shock as he sucked in a huge breath and sat up.

"Gaara!" You shout-whispered, instantly encasing him in a hug.

"(Y/n)? What happened?" He said sleepily.

You kissed his temple gently, everyone awing slightly at your action; his skin was soft and warm, "It doesn't matter right now." You spoke into his ear, the hot tears running down your face making a watery patch on his cheek as you hugged him again.

"Why are you crying?" He caressed your cheek with his thumb as your tears dripped away endlessly.

You let his hand slowly cup your cheek as he stared into your (e/c) eyes.

Slowly and cautiously, Gaara leaned in, making each second seem like hours.

Your heart pounded in your ears as he captured your lips in a gentle, slow kiss. His lips lightly pressed against yours, a passionate, and adorable kiss.

"(Y/n)..." He breathed out your name, still kissing you, but trailed off.

You were the first to need air so you had to break the kiss, settling for just staring into his alive teal orbs.

He was warm...

You eyes widened.

....And Granny Chiyo was cold....

Kiba Inuzuka

Start of Flashback
"Lean on me..
When your not strong..
I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on...
And..
When the time comes..
I'll need a friend, someone I can lean on.."

You closed your eyes tight and cried, tears falling down your little face as a familiar voice sang to you. The plea of a mother who wanted her lonely child to make a friend.
You'd never attach to people your age, you were withdrawn and kept to yourself, and for the life of her she couldn't understand why she never had to arrange a single playdate. The kids at your school took a dislike to you, seeing as you never took a particular like to them. You were more the kind of child who would only have one close friend then many good friends. Unfortunately, back then, you couldn't find that person.

Memories flooded with glaring and being called weird made an appearance in the cave of your mind. You weren't particularly intimidating or anything, just you were afraid to voice your opinions back then, only meekly nodding when someone approached you.

Your home life with your Grandfather and parents was the best, you absolutely adored your family, but sometimes you'd wonder why, why did you have this ache in your heart?

"Momma," You sniffled out, "Why don't they like me? Why does everyone look at me like that?"

Your mother wasn't surprised you were asking her, and snuggled you closer to her, "People have a certain outlook on life, they're moulded by societies ways and the need to fit in. One day, you'll find someone who loves you despite your flaws, other than your family, that's when you know you've found a true friend..."

You pushed yourself further into her arms, letting her hold you like a baby and rock you, "When that person comes momma, I hope they stay.." You whispered as you both sat in silence.
End Of Flashback

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Your heart beat wildly, holding the small child in your arms.

Why were you thinking of that memory right now. Was it because you were in a similar situation?

The child in your arms whimpered in fear, clutching tightly to your ninja clothing and pressing his face against your chest. His breath was wild and shaky, his black eyes wide as if he was unable to un-see what he has seen. The dark circles tell you of his sleepless nights and the tears falling freely told you he had bottled up so many emotions before.

He had been waiting. Waiting for a saviour.

Is this how your mother had felt? The huge responsibility of taking care of the small kid who lay in her arms.

You held the child tighter, rocking him from side to side while looking around you.

Orochimaru's lair was huge and the room the kid was kept in was absolutely vile.

Within the deserted rooms you'd found nothing at first, that is, until the very last unchecked ones.

You could hear shouts to Sasuke from outside and the battle that was ongoing.

You desperately wanted to help them but this child...how could you leave him?

His fragile bones in your hold felt like they could snap at any moment. If you let go of him, you were afraid he would shatter like glass, a million pieces of broken shards.

You couldn't even stand up in fear he would be scared.

Therefore, you held him even closer, and chose to do the only thing you could think of. In honour of your late mother, you could pass the song she'd sang to you.

"Shhhh," You soothed him, rubbing small circles into his back, which effectively calmed him down. He was just listening to your heartbeat now, his head nodding with each thump and his tears creasing.

You knew there'd be back up soon, hearing the sounds of slashing and shouting from outside.

"Lean on me..." You felt the child's surprise but also felt him become more comfortable with you, trying to block out the noises of battle he could hear by using your voice.

"When you're not strong.." He gently removed his arms from your shirt, and instead wrapped them around your waist, clinging onto you, his lifeline. I bet your mother could feel this too, was she this aware of every little move you made?

"I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on...." At this, you almost stopped singing. His body began shaking, his tears couldn't be held back anymore. He began crying madly, but it wasn't the same as before, it was sounded like an wounded animal who had finally found its owner, like the crying child you were long ago up until...up until....

Kiba. He was that someone you could rely on.

"And.." You chided.
"When the time comes..."
"I'll need a friend, someone I can lean on.."

Soothing the boy with gentle strokes through his black hair, you leaned against the wall, hoping help would come soon:
Hoping, Kiba would come soon.

You sucked in a deep breath, and held the boy like a mother would her child, standing up quietly as not to alert him. He seemed to be find with it, contrary to the reaction you'd originally thought you'd get.

"I'm going to put you down now..." You said, slowly bending down, but he just shook his head no.

Your heart broke at his feeble action but you knew you had to let him down.
You could hear battle cries in the distance.

You moved to set him upright but something made you stop. The battle cries had stopped. Sasuke's chakra had ceased.

You moved positions so the child's thin arms were around your neck and his legs were wrapped tightly around your waist as you ran out onto the battle field, seeing the damage that had been caused.

It wasn't physical, but was emotional.

Behind you, you heard and felt the shuffling of many pairs of feet. Naruto got up and wiped his nose on his sleeve as 4 Shinobi began running out, but the one you focused on was the one right at the front.

"(Y/n)!" Before you could even utter his name he ran up to you. His eyes laced with worry and fear.

Why was Kiba...scared?

"We got a reading that said that Orochimaru's chakra signal was coming your way, and we were sent as the track team to get you. I thought something so bad had happened to you and I was so worried an-"

"Kiba"

"-d I thought you were gone and why did you not tell-"

"Kiba." You said, losing your patience slightly.

He heard your voice this time and became quiet, wanting to hear it from your mouth. Why had you not told him about this mission. I mean, sure, he was worried half to death but he was also angry. He thought you could tell him anything, he thought you trusted him with everything, so why had you kept something so important from him?

"Listen, I-" But your words were drowned away by his overwhelming thoughts.

Did you really not trust him, after everything you'd both been through these years? He looked up at you, trying to look tough but he was actually hurt. He watched your mouth move as you spoke, not even hearing the words you were saying.

He loved you so much, no matter how angry he was his mind went back to that initial thought.

He'd fallen for you. Hard. He was head over heels for you, so much that when he thought about you his head became fuzzy and he became a bit more irrtated and emotional than usual.

There was one thing he did know as he watched you talk. He didn't want an explanation.

He wanted to feel your lips against his.

He needed to feel your lips against his.

Maybe it wasn't the fact you had kept this from him that was messing him up. It was the confession he'd been holding back in fear of being rejected that was making him frustrated.

Leaning forward, he licked his lips hungrily before seizing your still moving lips with his own. Kiba licked your lower lip and smirked into your mouth playfully, liking the redness that was spreading from your neck to the rest of your face. It gave you a nice rosy tint.

He wanted to feel this forever.

There was no such thing though, because sooner or later you two had to part from your everlasting kiss. The minty taste of his mouth lingering on your lips as you resisted the urge to lick them.

You were about to tell Kiba how you really felt. That kiss was your green light.

Just as you opened your mouth to speak, you eyes wandered down to the suddenly heavier child.

Limpness.
