"Mama."
"Mama."
The voice was so soft and barely audible but Haseya heard it and it made her jump out of her sleep. She couldn't believe her ears.
She looked around at her surroundings in confusion for a moment. She was sure she fell asleep in Coleman's arms outside but here she was back at the Smith's home. And her ears were so sensitive to Malcom's voice she almost thought she was imagining it.
Her eyes continued to wonder until they landed to the corner where Malcom was curled up on Coleman's lap Chewing on his thumb, which was something he did was he was in pain. He had dark circles around his eyes and some bruises from falling. But her baby was awake and right there in front of her with his father.
Haseya's breath got caught in her throat. Her baby was alive. She let out a broken cry as she stared in disbelief.
Hurting. But alive.
Haseya's feet quickly travelled over to her lover and their son before gently cupping his face. Her tears freely falling down her face as she touched him. She honestly couldn't still believe it. "Malcom baby." She exhaled her relief.
She pressed her lips lightly to his forehead as tear drops landed on him from her. Coleman rubbed her back soothingly. Haseya almost burst when Malcom took her hand in his free one. "I missed you baby. Oh God I missed you so much. I'm so sorry." Her voice cracked.
"I missed you." He whispered. His voice was weak. He was in so much pain. It broke her heart. As a mother you always want to protect your babies. And she felt still like she could've done more. But he was alive and she had to
Give herself grace. "He can't move very well but he will be able to. He just needs time to heal." Coleman finally spoke with Malcom's head resting on his shoulder.Haseya swallowed and nodded. "You're mother and father are outside. They want to speak with you." Coleman cupped her chin. She couldn't take her eyes off of Malcom.
"It's okay to go. We will be here waiting for you." He reassured her. Malcom tiredly nodded. "I'll be back." She whispered to Malcom who kissed her nose like she usually did to him.
She quickly rushed outside to she her parents awkwardly ignoring each other. Things clearly were still tense between the two. Mostly from her father. "What is it?"
"Hey baby." Rebecca greeted her. "Hey.. again what's the problem?" She questioned.
"Things will get aggressive here as you know." Tahoma spoke. "We wanna protect you and Mal." Rebecca finished.
"Get you both away from Cheyenne for a while..." Tahoma butted back in. "Yeah. I have a place to go. Coleman's friend June will be housing us three when it hits. Mom please come with us." Haseya offered.
She missed her mother so much she just wanted more time with her and she was scared of what would happen if she went back to the Buchanan home. She didn't want to lose her.
"Rebecca can stay-"
"I am just fine." Rebecca cut him off. Tahoma grunted in annoyance. "It would be safer to stay at our-"
"I'll be staying with Haseya." She answered shortly. Tahoma's looked like he wanted to argue about it.
Haseya stood their amused watching her parents bicker she was tired of being the center of attention she wanted to watch someone else's drama. Who better than her parents? It was entertaining. They haven't been together in front of her for years. Decades even. "You have lived with me before it will not be different."
