It was September 10th, the first day of senior year and Violet was getting ready. She stood in the mirror to see herself in her uniform. A pristine pale green blouse, black pleated skirt, and a black bow on the collar.

She went to Luna's school for Elemental Witchcraft. It was the best school for the elemental arts. Each student was sorted into their element via a test taken in their freshmen year. Earth, fire, air and water were the elements witches were sorted into. Violet, was happily sorted into earth.

Over the years Violet became an impressive witch. She was skilled with plants but she did essentially well with her ability to pull rock and minerals from the earth and make it bend to her will. Unfortunately, while she spent so much time honing her skills in witchcraft, she never made time to socialize. It wasn't all that upsetting to her, but she figured it'd be in her best interest to go out of her comfort zone in her last year.

Violet glanced back at the mirror, she looked spotless, everything how it was supposed to be.

**SHORT TIME SKIP**

She found where her locker was,  put her unnecessary things away and got out what she would need for the first few classes. She got out her books and her wand and placed them in a leather cross-body bag she kept with her.

She checked her schedule and started walking to her first class. As she turned the corner, she walked directly into someone.

The girl was a bit shorter than her with long black hair and choppy bangs covering her forehead. She had small scars on her cheek and nose bridge.

"Sorry," Violet said, picking up her books.

"No, I'm sorry. This isn't the first time I've run into someone this morning. Umm, I'm Amber," The girl said, helping Violet.

"I'm Violet," They stood up awkwardly. Amber fixed her tie and smoothed her bright red blouse.

"Well, I'll see you around, Violet." She said walking off.

"See ya," Violet said, waving as she started to continue walking.

She walked into the small classroom and sat down next to a girl with curly brown hair with a uniform like hers, but with a pale blue top. She had dark skin and freckles dotted all over her nose and cheeks. As soon as she sat down, the girl started talking to her.

"Hi Violet! Good to see you again." She said. It was Coral, a girl she met at a summer program, she and Violet weren't particularly close, but from what she remembered Coral was a nice person and not too aggravating to be around.

The teacher walked in, "Welcome class. I'm Mr. Roman, I will be your general charms teacher. Today I just want you to get to know your desk partner." He said, sitting down at his desk.

"Why would he waste his own time like that?' Violet murmured under her breath.

Violet turned back to Coral.

"So, what electives are you taking?" Violet asked,

"Marine Life and Divination, what about you?" Coral replying with a dimpled smile.

"Crystal Science and Herbology." Violet said.

"Do you want to eat lunch with me and my other friends?" Coral asked hopefully.

"Sure, I'd love to."

"I think you'll like my friends, they're absolute sweethearts." Coral told her.

"That sounds great."

/The bell rang/

"Ok students, I'll see you all tomorrow when we'll start with a pretest to see what you kiddos already know."

"Hey, meet me in the cafeteria later!" Coral exclaimed.

"Sounds good," Violet replied, walking off to her next class,

She scanned the crowded lab and sat down in the last empty seat next to two other girls. They both turned towards Violet. One of them had red hair, and wore all white and grey, for air, Violet assumed. And the other...

"Oh, Hey, Violet right?" It was the girl from this morning.

"Yeah, Amber, right?"

"Yup."

The red-haired girl looked confused,

"How do you two know each other?" She asked.

"Oh, I bumped into her when I was running after you." Amber explained pushing her dark fringe out of her face.

"Oh, well, I'm Ariel," She said turning to Violet smiling.

They talked about their day's so far. Violet learned that they happened to be the 'other friends' Coral was talking about.

The bell rang and they all walked off in different directions.

***TIME SKIP TO LUNCH***

Violet walked quickly out of the Herbology room and headed to the cafeteria. She found Coral, Amber and Ariel, and walked over to them.

"Hey guys," She said waving.

They all greeted her smiling.

They started talking, Violet learned that Amber and Ariel have been friends for many years and they met Coral two years ago.

"So Violet, you're pretty cool, and we could use a smart gal like you in our little coven." Coral asked cheerfully.

"Definitely." Ariel agreed.

"Totally, we need someone to knock sense into Ari and Coral." Amber said.

Ariel frowned, "What do you mean by that?"

"Don't worry about it." Amber said laughing.

Violet and Coral laughed.

'I like this, having friends feels nice.' Violet thought.
