Ushijima slowly opened his eyes, another nudge from Oikawa and he was fully awake. "Oh, Oikawa are you awake?" He said with is usual tone. "Yes Ushiwaka-chan, now get off me I can't breath." Oikawa managed to croak out. Ushijima moved back still a little dazed from the sudden awakening while Oikawa drank his water. Occasionally glancing at Ushijima,' Why is he here, how long has he been here? Didn't he sleep properly?'
Ushijima stared out the window, absent-mindedly asking, "What happened? Why did you pass out?" Oikawa's mind flooded with memories from the night before he felt his chest tighten, making breathing nearly impossible. He gasped for air buckling over in bed trying to find a position in which he could breathe. Ushijima hurridly got up and called a nurse, in the span of a few minutes, they were giving him medications and had put him on a ventilator. He struggled to breathe, and his heartbeat was irregular. As night drew in his condition worsened, he had a high fever and coughing spasms. The doctors ran several tests on him but by daybreak, all came back negative and no one could pinpoint what the disease was and why it was happening.
Ushijima spent days in the hospital by Oikawa's side, reading books on rare diseases, disorders any sort of deficiency. Anything he could get his hands-on. Meanwhile, doctors had put Oikawa in an induced coma to give his body rest, he was being monitored day and night. But his condition showed no improvement and Ushijima's worry grew as the days and nights passed.
"Hello, dear just wanted to ask if you're coming home tonight?" Mrs.Ushijima asked. She had called Wakatoshi who hadn't been home in 3 weeks.
"No, mother Oikawa still hasn't shown any signs of improving, I don't want to leave him here alone."
He could hear his mother sigh on the other end of the phone, yet it sounded more like a sigh of relief.
" Why do you ask, is everything okay over there?" He questioned his mother.
"Well, you know how your grandmother is a Shaman, I was talking to her just the other day and mentioned Oikawa's condition." His mother paused for a second, hesitating, "So I told her about how he liked his childhood friend, but that friend seemed to hate him and was often harsh with him and how he became sick. So she began worrying, asking me what he looked like, ordering me to call you and to tell you to bring him here. And while I was explaining how he's really sick and can't come out of the hospital she told me it was important and that Oikawa's life was on the line."
"Mother, wait a minute you told her Oikawa's secret?" Ushijima felt angry but knew she meant no harm.
"Yes, I'm sorry but you have to listen to me, she told me something that could save Oikawa."
"Really," Ushijima practically leapt out of his chair, "what did she tell you?"
" She told me a vision she had about 2 weeks ago, in it she was standing in a glass chamber, surrounded by windows out of each one she looked she only saw darkness, but out of one she spotted a young man standing in the midst of what looked like clouds, she described him as having chocolate hair with auburn eyes. She told me she tried to understand what was being asked of her until- until she felt this sudden urge in herself to call out and when she did his name came to her. She warned him of what she saw in her chamber eyes, green eyes and hair black like the midnight sky, a soul dark, evil lurking in the depths." His mother paused for a breath.
Ushijima thought for a moment, his grandmother had been a successful Shaman in her prime and even after her professional career ended many sought her out for help. If what his mother was saying was true, Oikawa could be in great danger.
" She said he might have the hanahaki disease, have you noticed any flower petals around him lately?"
Ushijima thought for a second, Oikawa's family members and friends had visited him a lot, most of the time accompanied by flowers.
"People bring him a lot of flowers, so yeah I do see petals around him often," Ushijima remembered one peculiarity thought. " During the first 2 days, before he fell into an induced coma whenever he coughed I saw rose petals on his bedsheets. At that time I brushed it off as just some loose petals, but maybe I was wrong?"
"Bingo, Wakatoshi, son I need you to leave Oikawa in someone else's care and come here, Your grandmother might be able to help find the cure for Oikawa's Hanahaki disease."
"Sure, I'll be right over." Ushijima ended the call, placing the phone on the table he sighed. Before leaving the room.
He ended up calling Mr and Mrs Oikawa to come and take care of him for a few days while he was away. The next day he packed his thing and just before leaving went to Oikawa's room to say goodbye, "Oikawa, I'm sorry I'm leaving for a few days, wait for me here until I get back." He bent over and kissed Oikawa gently on the forehead, before leaving the room.
He made his way to a car waiting for him outside the hospital. And with a heavy heart, he made his way to the magic garden of ' Amahara ' Where it's rumoured that God had collected all the flowers of the world, also it held the cure to every disease in the world the problem was finding the right flower or gemstone.
