Striking From The Shadows

Darkness bestowed upon the city of Nelspruit as the moon gave birth to light along with its children the stars. A quiet night it was as the police were still investigating the dilemma that happened on that old underground parking garage.

The police station was filled with locomotion as a new case concerning two adults being murdered in their house. Though it occurred in the outskirts of the city , the police accepted the case since there was no police station on the village.

"Sir ! Two adults have been murdered in their house in a village near the mountain" said Lieutenant Sparks as he came forth to the captain with a document on his hands.

"What ! Was it a robbery or something?" asked the captain as he would accidentally spill his coffee on the floor.

"It's not yet confirmed sir , I sent  two men to go and investigate but they haven't came back with results" replied the Lieutenant as he would ask the cleaner for a mop so he could wipe the spilt coffee.

"Don't worry we will go there ourselves and I don't even know why people leave the city to live in those villages , gather the forensic guys and get in the car" spouted the Captain as he placed his cup of coffee on his desk and took his car keys and made way to the car.

The captain along with the lieutenant and forensic guys drove off to the village in the darkness of the city. After an hour they arrived , they would get off the car and went to the house of the man Gerrard killed. A knocking sound would be heard from the front door as no one would reply , the captain gentle opened the door only to be filled with shock.

The captain along with the lieutenant were startled by what they saw before them. Two bodies of dead policemen lies on the floor drenched in blood and limbs separated from them. At the corner of the room sat the young boy as he starred at the two bodies and the bodies of his parents.

"Sir! those are the policemen that I sent to investigate! So this means it was a robbery!" shouted the frightened lieutenant as he couldn't contain his fear as his eyes roamed around the house with his hand clinging on his gun.

"Yes , it is obviously a murder and this two were just eliminated as they were interfering with the murder's plans " recited the captain as he was also filled with fear and shock as he roamed around the house checking if the murder is still around.

"I shouldn't have sent them here , they had families to take care of , it's all my fault for my foolish command" regretted the lieutenant as his eyes would be flooded by tears as he couldn't contain the guilt of sending the two men to investigate.

"Chaaaa...." That was the sound that echoed throughout the house as the captain made the lieutenant come back to his with a huge slap on the cheek.

"Get a hold of yourself , you are the lieutenant of the station so stop crying and man up !" shouted the captain after slapping the lieutenant.

"Sorry sir , that was unprofessional of me , I just felt guilty and responsible for their deaths" replied the sobbing lieutenant as he whipped off his tears.

"He will come back" a small innocent voice was heard in the house as it stroke the police with fear as they roam around with their hands on their guns.

"Your guns will not do anything to him" the small innocent voice would be heard again as the captain turned around and pointed at a young boy who was sitting in the corner with his gun .

"What are you doing here? It's not safe here and you are interfering with police work so just go home and stop talking nonsense" yelled the captain as he would stop pointing at the boy.

"You are pretty rude you know , you come to my house and yelled at me then you want me to leave" uttered the young boy who had messy clothes with dark circles in his eyes showing that he hasn't slept for a long time.

"Wait if this is your home then that means..."  mumbled the lieutenant as he couldn't finish his sentence as he would think that the boy is young but he already endured such pain.

"Yes , these are my parents , they would talk to you but they are currently sleeping so when they wake up I will tell them that you were here" said the young boy as it was seen that he still believe that his parents will come back.

"But your parents are dead , they are never coming back" replied  lieutenant Sparks as he would try to reason with the young boy so he could stop believing that his parents are alive , meanwhile the captain would roam around looking for evidence.

"Shut up ! My parents are not dead you get it! Now leave you mean people!" shouted the young boy as he started throwing pots at the police in anger.

"We are trying to help you!" shouted  lieutenant Sparks while dodging pots.

"It's fine lieutenant , it's time we leave" replied the captain as he would go out the door along with lieutenant Sparks.

The captain would go in the car and press the hooter causing all villagers to wake up . The villagers went out of their houses as they would want to see the cause of the noise. The captain would get on top of the car and begged for the villagers attention.

"Sorry to wake you up , as you all know that yesterday two adults were killed In their own house and there were no signs that showed that a person killed them but there were claws on wall , meaning it was an animal so I hereby instruct you to evacuate this place because it's no longer safe as there are many predators around here" said the captain.

The captain's speech would cause havoc on the villagers as they were all complaining about them having to leave the village just because of an animal.

An old man came forth and said " you are telling us to leave our houses and go where ? to the big city where you treat us like trash ? We appreciate your effort of trying to help us but we don't need it so do us a favor and leave us in peace because if we are going to die we rather die in the jaws of an animal than in the hands of humans"

The police would realize that trying to reason with them it's futile so they got in the car and drove away. They would arrive at the police station and that's where they realised that the forensic guys they went with to the village are not in the car with them.
