Sixty five years had passed since Michael and Julia Adler had returned home, after that night under the glimmering Weeping Willow, where their lives had changed forever.
As soon as Michael and Julia had graduated they had packed their bags, got in Michael's car and never looked back.
They were married soon after, and Julia started college while Michael gained an apprenticeship, working at the local garage in the town of their new home.
After years of studying and working part time at the grocery store, Julia received her diploma in psychology.
Michael and Julia eventually saved enough money to buy a comfortable house, and raised three children of their own.
Michael and Julia's life had its struggles, but they always found the time to express their love and find the happiness in everything they did, together.
As promised, Michael kept their love strong.
He continued to make Julia smile and laugh.
He was always there for her when she needed him, and she always felt safe in his embrace.
Michael and Julia now stood under the glowing Weeping Willow tree at the ages of eighty three.
They had their arms around each other and were waiting patiently as the sun set behind them, and the leaves of the tree started to glow brighter.
Julia smiled, staring at the tree, once again in awe of its beauty.
The tree had been the one thing she had missed.
And like nothing had changed, Michael watched her, finding her more beautiful than any magical tree.
"It's still so beautiful," Julia said, turning to face her husband.
"Yes, you are, gorgeous," Michael replied, smiling warmly at his wife.
Julia laughed.
"You haven't changed," she said gratefully, reaching up to caress his warmly weathered cheek.
Michael chuckled, and then bowed his head to plant a soft kiss on Julia's lips, his heart swelling with love for the woman that had bore his children and made his life complete.
Michael and Julia had wanted to visit their old home one last time, and the tree that had united them, and so they had.
Soon after they visited their parent's graves.
They had learned years ago, that in order to be truly happy, you had to forgive, and move on.
Michael and Julia had both kept in contact with their fathers as the years had passed, despite everything they had put them through, they still loved them.
After the cemetery, Michael and Julia headed over to the hotel they had booked.
They had a beautiful dinner, and then got ready for bed.
When they were tucked in they kissed each other goodnight, and then cuddled each other to sleep – for the last time.
The night after, the Weeping Willow grew just that little bit bigger, and shone a little bit brighter.
