Chapter 4

It's been a week. Elli and I haven't talk to each other again. I tried approaching her a lot of times, but she seems to be avoiding me, kaya hindi narin ako nag-abala pang lapitan sya ulet. Wala naman kaming pinag-awayan, at mas lalong wala akong maalalang ginawang masama sa kanya. So if she wants to talk to me, then I'm here, but I won't approach her anymore.

It was still early in the morning. Madalang pa lang ang mga estudyante sa loob ng paaralan. Pinili kong mas maagang pumasok ngayong araw. Savannah's mom arrived last night from a three days seminar, so to avoid a torturous breakfast, I chose to go to school early instead. Tita Sarah is really not that bad. She's sweet and nice, like mom. The problem is, she isn't mom. Seeing her being all over the place where mom used to be, overwriting everything that reminds me of mom, is just too painful for me. Mom is my only good memory left in that house and I can't let her erase it.

"Do you think the two of you could possibly do it tomorrow?" I overheard someone said inside the classroom.

"Sa tingin ko ay tama na ang naipon naming lakas para makapagbukas ng panibagong portal." sagot naman ng isa pang boses na nagpahinto sa'kin sa pagpasok.

"The thinning of the curtain made it possible for us to regain our strength faster, which is both a good and a bad thing. Last week nang puntahan ko ang dating gym, there was a giant dent on the door. Who knows what's happening in there now." napatigil ako sa narinig. The voice sounded like Enry's. There was a long silence after he said it.

"Kung ganon, dapat na nga tayong magmadali. That creature may not be able to use his full strength here, but so do we."

There was another long silence after that. Naghintay ako kung may magsasalita pa ba. Nang mapagtantong wala na ay saka ako nagdesisyong pumasok ng classroom. Well, I could have simply walk in while they were talking, but realizing that it was the principals nephews, and that they were talking weirdly about the old gym and the bump on the door made me stop.

The bump was already old gossip for every other student. The talk didn't even last three days, kaya medyo nakakapagtataka na pinag-uusapan parin nila ang tungkol doon. Their theories are pretty wild too. A creature? Inside that old gym? Paano naman mapapasok doon ang kung anong hayop na sinasabi nila? And I've checked the CCTV's near the vicinity, kung may nagpasok man ng kung anong malaking nilalang sa loob, I would have seen it. Napailing nalang ako. Those three are getting crazier by the minute.

Isang linggo na ang lumipas matapos naming ma report sa principal ang nangyari sa gym, ngunit hanggang ngayon ay hindi parin namin alam kung sino ang may kagagawan dito. The teachers told us to investigate, but the principal won't let us open the door not until we find a new replacement. Kahit kase wala nang silbe ang gym na iyon, kung basta-basta nalang itong mabubukas ay maaari iyong gawing tambayan ng mga estudyante. No one is also allowed to go near it in case the giant door suddenly collapse, so yellow tapes that says caution is put in front of it. The only thing we can do as of the moment is announce it to everyone, and hope that the culprits would feel guilty and turn themselves in.
