One Night's Mistake (Based on a true story)

too close yet too far

  Min woke up with a throbbing head. For a moment, she forgot that she wasn't in her own room. As she slowly opened her eyes  to Nick's  portrait beside his bed. She jolted up wide awake  and lifted her cover. IT WASN'T  A DREAM!!! S###!!! She was in his room... on his bed??? Did it really  happen ? Where is he ???  Did they sleep together???  Panicking, she didn't  know what to do or how to face him. She just grabbed her stuff and left as soon as she could.

    Nick frowned over his coffee. He hasn't had breakfast, yet ,it was already  2pm. He felt very guilty for leaving her before she woke up, but he had no choice. He had an emergency delivery this morning. It was a critical one and he didn't want to wake her up.
      "Doctor?",  Araya's  inquisitive voice broke through his haze. " Did you get a hangover from yesterday? "  Araya asked as her finger grazed along his shoulders, " I was wondering where you disappeared  off yesterday in the midst of drinks!"  "Nah..I'm fine! I... I just had to go home early" , he replied quickly.    He would see her at uni , he thought.

   Nick could barely focus.As soon as his shift was over , he grabbed the keys and headed towards his car. On the way he stopped by to grab  Min's  favourite dessert, tiramisu. If things got awkward he would use it to calm her down.  He had faced so many nerve wrecking moments in his life . Including his final  exam but nothing ever came close to last night

Nick parked his car and got off to find Min.
    "P'Nick! P'Nick"   May was panting as she ran behind Nick .  Nick turned , "Oh  hi May!" . "I just saw your benz and I thought it must be you! Did uncle tell you to pick Min up again?" May asked Nick. Nick nodded.
     "She is at the practice hall. We just finished  dance practices " May said, pointing at the hall. "Thanks ",  Nick said as he waved at May and hurried to the hall.

   As he entered the hall through the back door, he saw Min sitting on the benches. He slowly closed the door behind him and took a nervous step towards her. He heard a voice. A male voice.
She wasn't alone. As he took another step. He could see them both. He saw a guy step up and kiss Min. She was in his embrace.
He froze. His fists clenched up. "She was just drunk last night ", he came to his senses, " it was very stupid of him to think other wise".  He turned back . " I guess I am just  like a brother to her after all , she must have been very drunk and confused." He shook his head while walking back to the car.
     "P'Nick! Did you find Min? " May called out as Nick unlocked his car. "Ummm no ", Nick lied. His face noticeably frowning. "Aww she must have left early with her boyfriend then . Don't worry he will drop her off" May assured him.  "Huh ?" Nick laughed  disappointed. She has a boyfriend  and he didn't know. They had gone from childhood  best friends to practically strangers.
This is good.He knew his place.
