Calm. That's all I can describe it as, the moment I thought it would all end. There was no rapid breathing or running or panic. I was strangely calm. Even while hiding under a bank teller's desk and hearing them cry and silently pray, I was calm. The only thing that broke that feeling of calmness was seeing the criminals trying to rob the bank I was currently inside of recognize my face and bolt out the door.
Confusion was my next emotion. As far as I knew, I had never had any connection to huge, muscular men wearing ski masks and carrying guns. Why had they run when they saw me? Why had they recognized me? Why did they mention their "boss" in between their hushed whispers of profanities? Why was I calm? Why?
