Scarlett Fitz POV
"We need to do something about A."
Charlotte and I looked at Avalon in surprise. "I know we do." Charlotte said. "But why the sudden urge for answers?"
Avalon started to fiddle with the hem on her dress. "A's going too far."
"What happened?" I asked worriedly.
"Nothing." Avalon muttered quickly. "Where's Brielle?" She quickly changed the subject.
"I'm not sure." Charlotte replied. "Maybe she's sick?"
"I assumed it was that, but she usually calls us when she's sick." Avalon responded, turning on her phone to check that Brielle hadn't messaged her.
"Guys this is Brielle we're talking about. She once came to school with the flu just so she could take that math test." I said.
"What if something bad happened to her?" Charlotte fretted. "With all that's going on right now how do we know that A didn't do something to her."
"We don't." Avalon responded bluntly.
"But I'm sure she's fine." I added quickly, attempting to calm Charlotte down. "She's probably just tired."
"Didn't you hear?" Winona Callen said, wheeling in front of our table. Avalon looked like she had swallowed a lemon, she had never had much patience for Winona. Charlotte on the other hand looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown. "Little miss perfect took a trip to the slammer last night."
"What?!" Charlotte and I exclaimed simultaneously.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Avalon retorted, glaring at Winona like she was a pimple that had decided to appear on the end of her nose.
"I'm just saying that Brielle Cavanaugh isn't the perfect little role model everyone thinks she is. Deception is a powerful thing, and she had everyone fooled." Winona said. "You'd know a lot about that wouldn't you Charlotte?" She grinned nastily and started to wheel away, leaving a stunned Charlotte in her wake.
"I hate her." Avalon grumbled, stabbing her fork into her salad. "They say that when people have life threatening accidents it gives them a better sense of life. I think Winona just became a bigger bitch then she already was."
"What was that about?" I asked Charlotte. She still looked like someone had punched her in the face and was sitting there with a dazed almost scared expression on her face. "Charlotte?"
"I have absolutely no idea what she was talking about." Charlotte said abruptly, pulling herself out of her thoughts. Avalon and I exchanged an uncertain glance but didn't say anything.
"What did she mean about Brielle?" I questioned, changing the topic.
"I have absolutely no idea." Charlotte answered, looking extremely glad the spotlight had been shifted from her.
"This is Winona we're talking about." Avalon said. "We can't trust anything that comes out of her mouth. I'm sure Brielle is fine."
"We should go to her house tonight to check on her." I suggested. Avalon and Charlotte nodded in agreement.
Charlottes gaze suddenly focused on something across the courtyard. Avalon and I followed her line of sight. Jackson and his group on friends has just walked in and sat at one of the tables. Charlotte looked like she was trying to hold back tears. For some reason Avalon had gone very pale and looked like she was going to throw up the salad she had just eaten.
"Are you ok?" I asked Charlotte in concern. She nodded her head and gave me a small smile.
"Who does that to someone's motorbike?!" Jackson yelled suddenly to his friend, a few people turned around to see what the uproar was about. Jackson glowered at them and they quickly turned away.
