Fixing the Past

*Devilbug's pov* 

I stepped through the portal, Timebreaker following me shortly after. I look around. It was 5 minutes before Alya died. I grit my teeth. Marinette was sitting on the same bench, sketchbook propped open in her lap. I turn my head and start running. Time slows again. A split second after I start running, the car speeds around the corner. I leap in front of the car, arms outstretched. The car slams into me and I scream in pain. The car keeps moving, my feet digging into the pavement. The car finally comes to a stop, Alya mere inches behind me. I gasp and spring up. It worked! Then, I see the blood. I gasp. Younger me turned into Ladybug and leaped at the car, trying to save Alya. The car killed her. It killed her. I look down at myself and I am slowly fading. "No!" I shout. Timebreaker runs behind me again and opens the portal. I jump through it, almost gone. I step out, 5 minutes before this all unfolded. "Timebreaker, keep Ladybug at bay," I say, and start running. I see the car fly around the corner again. Time slows. I leap in front of the car a second too early and miss it completely. The car flies past me. I see a flash of red and black. "No! Ladybug!" I shout. The car goes askew and slams directly into both Ladybug and Alya. "No! Why! No!" I scream. Timebreaker runs up and opens the portal. I have already begun fading. I leap through it. 5 minutes back. I shoot a glance at Timebreaker. She nods and runs to Marinette. I race for the car, time slowing again. I leap toward the car. When I land, my foot gives out and I tumble, skidding past the car. It goes off course again, slamming right into Alya again. I scream in frustration. "NO! Why!" I cry. Younger Ladybug runs up to the car. "Alya! Alya no!" She cries. I stand up, shaking. I've witnessed my best friend's death so many times now. I weep into my hands. Timebreaker comes up behind me again. "Let's try one more time." She says. I nod. This time. This time it will work. It has to. I take a breath and step into the portal. As soon as I am through, I start running. Timebreaker falls away, going to my younger self. I see the car screech around the corner for the nth time today and I leap in front of it. Half a second later, it connects with my hands. I shout in pain again and dig my feet into the pavement. The car slows and stops. I look back. Alya is safe, my younger self is safe. Everyone around us is safe. "Yes! Yes! It worked!" I cry. Timebreaker skates up to me. She's grinning. "Time to keep fixing things." She says. I nod and walk over to my younger self. She was in civilian form, and hugging Alya closely. They look up at me. "Who are you? Are you akumatized?" I smirk. "What do you think?" She frowns slightly. "A-are you... me?" She asks. I chuckle darkly, my laugh almost maniacal. "I am you, non-evil me!" I say, almost gleefully. I look at Alya. "Personally, I think you look better as Ice Fox, but that's just me. White is more of your color." Alya looks at me confused. "Oh right, so... Hawkmoth akumatized me, I fought against it, and then he forced me to do it cuz if I didn't he would hurt you. Naturally, I accepted and la da dee, he akumatized you, Nino, and my sweet kitty." I say to Alya and Marinette. "I only stopped this because I have nothing left to do." Marinette hums. "How are you here? Why were you akumatized?" I laugh like a maniac before responding. "Y'know what? I'll just tell ya, day by day. Each day of heartbreak I had to go through. So, non-evil me, you are 1 day from failing 2 classes, 2 days from your parents leaving for vacation, 3 days from your parents never coming back, 4 days from Adrien rejecting you, most likely for Kagami, 5 days away from getting akumatized into a deadly deal with Hawkmoth, 6 days away from killing 5 people, 7 days away from Hawkmoth breaking his deal and akumatizing his own son, and your partner, 8 days away from Hawkmoth akumatizing Alya and Nino with torture, and 9 days from going rogue." I say, my tone dark and foreboding. I hear Timebreaker come up behind me. "Devilbug, we should get back to the present time. Alya is safe now. We have to make sure things stay the same the rest of the time so that you don't die." I chuckle darkly. "Ok then, let's go." Timebreaker opens the portal and I step through. We emerge in the exact moment we left. I automatically notice that Ice Fox was already fighting better. Having no injury helps that. I smirk and leap at the new heroes. 

Hai!!! Sorry that this is late but I was busy having family game night and I couldn't update until now. I really don't want to end this story but my plot is coming to a close. As sad as that is, I have no more ideas because things will either go back to normal, or Devilbug and Chat Blanc will rule Paris forever. I'm still picking. And either way, even if they get saved, Hawkmoth will be gone so what would I do then? I have no clue. Anyway, stay paw-sitive and I'll see you next chapter!
