Twenty

It was a Friday afternoon. Haewon was sitting on a bench, near the Han River. Felix invited her here for a date.

Haewon didn't have anything to do at home, so she decided to come half an hour earlier. She liked this place so much. The big trees, the colorful flowers, the slowly moving water: it all calmed her down.

She started thinking about her relationship with Felix. They've been friends for a month now but had 3 dates already. They also just hung out after school a lot or studied together in the library.

She liked him, of course she did. The butterflies appeard in her stomach everytime they touched: high fives, arm smacks or even accidental bumps and brushes. The butterflies even appeard when they talked. Or when the freckled boy looked into Haewon's eyes.

Felix was a really attentive and polite boy. He'd occasionally give or send flowers to Haewon since he know how much she loved them. The girl received once a little bouquet of lavender (which has calming aromatherapy properties), then a little bouquet of valerians (which symbolises readiness) when she had exams.

What really made Haewon fall for Felix even deeper was his actions last week when she was ill and took three days off from school. He sent her flowers everyday. Once zinnia (thinking of you), then pink camellia (miss you) and lastly blue salvia (thinking of you). The girl was both in shock and in tears every time her brother went into her room after school to give them to her.
Felix wouldn't leave me alone until I agree to give you this he said.

As she thought about it, the realisation hit her like a truck.  Damn it the girl thought I love him. It's not like I don't enjoy our dates but.. I feel like I want more. That's it I will just confess him. Like I should have back then, two dates earlier. I think I was into him already that time.

'Hey.' A deep voice dragged Haewon out of her thoughts.

'Hey Felix.' She immediately smiled as the boy appeard in her view with black jeans, a light red sweater (he looked kinda elegant in this fit?) and a single red rose in his hand.  'Oh, my gosh a-'

'A red rose, yes. You don't like it?' The boy moved his hand to give the flower to the girl but then he frowned in worry.

'Oh, no, I love it! It's just you never gave me roses before.' the girl smiled and stood up to hug the guy-as she usually did whenever they met. 'Are we gonna go to somewhere or just sit here and enjoy the view?'

'I'd rather stay. I need to tell you something.' Felix answered in a serious tone.

'Is something wrong?' the girl frowned as various thoughts came into her mind. Is he moving away? Did somebody die in his family? Is he no longer interested in her? Is he even interested in her?

The boy started laughing. 'Don't look at me like that, it's not bad news. I mean, I hope.' He added quietly and sat down on the bench next to her.
'Do you remember the first time we met?'

'In person? Or when you-'

'-accidentally texted you instead of Jaewon.' He shook his head with a smile at his own stupidness.
I was a little surprised and embarrassed at first when you said you weren't Jaewon.. But then I wanted to text you more. I wanted to talk to you more even without knowing who you were in person. You caught my attention just 5 minutes after meeting you.'

Haewon opened her mouth but then closed. She felt there was much more to come. She was already bewildered.

'Then when I thought you were dating Jaewon I became a little upset, not gonna lie. When the guys told me that you were twins I was.. happy? I couldn’t wait to talk to you find out more about you. I was already interested. Then it all just happened. We became friends and talked more and more and I got to know you more and more everyday. It felt great. Then when I asked you out and you said yes, I went completely crazy. I was all smile-y but I had a great fear of getting awkward in case it didn't work out. Damn, I spent the night awake because I was so afraid.' He laughed then looked into Haewon's eyes.

'You know, I'm incredibly happy it worked out and we got to go on three more. I was thinking about my feelings a lot lately and eventually came up with something.'
Felix grabbed the shocked girl's hand. 'I like you, Haewon and I want to take our friendship to a next level.' He took a big sight. 'Will you be my girlfriend?'

Seeing the girl's speechless face, Felix awkwardly scratched his nape. 'Maybe this was a bit too much all at once.'

Haewon shook her head. 'No, it's okay!' she said in a shaky voice. The girl didn't realize but she started tearing up during Felix's confession.
'This was beautiful, I can't even express how grateful I am to have you in my life.'
She put her hands over his shoulders and looked into the boy's beautiful, dark brown eyes with her own teary ones. 'I like you too Felix and yes, I will be your girlfriend.'

Felix grabbed Haewon's waist and leaned closer to her.
I can't believe it's happening the girl thought and closed her eyes.
Feeling the guy's soft lips on hers was beyond everything she imagined.
But it was amazing. It was something she won't be able to forget for a long time. Maybe never.

Actually I never really plotted out what will happen after the first date so that's why I don't update: I don't have any idea hahahadamnit
