"is that a yes?" harry asks and i snap back into reality from my hazy state.

"oh.. uh... yes." i stutter and pat the seat next to me on the roof. i light up the joint again and take a puff, needing a bit more of a high to be able to talk to him. i hold the joint in between my fingers and gesture it to him. he takes it from me and takes a hit.

"i never really pegged you to be the type." he reveals and passes it back to me.

"why? because i'm a girl?" i nonchalantly laugh in a sarcastic tone.

"no, of course not." he answers and pauses. "more because you and jess are so smart and dedicated to school."

"how do you think we manage all of our work without going completely insane?"

"sounds like i need to start coming to your guys' apartment." he laughs and passes the joint back to me. "it also sounds like i don't know a lot about you."

"what can i say, i'm pretty mysterious." i giggle and shrug.

"you know... i always sort of wondered about you." harry says, staring off into the gradient skyline.

"why?" i ask with a confused expression. i always just assumed he didn't think about me whatsoever due to the lack of interactions that we've had. a thought crossed my mind that he was just drunk and looking for a hookup.

"you're... charming, i guess? i always wanted to be friends with you but i never really got the opportunity to. i've never seen you date anyone either, other than you and michael's thing."

"our thing? what thing?" i laugh surprisingly.

"oh come on... you guys obviously like each other." he teases as if we were in middle school.

"isn't it pretty obvious to everyone that jess and michael secretly are in love with each other but will never admit it since they've been best friends all of their lives?"

"i'm pretty positive that everyone thinks that you and michael are boning."

"what? how?"

"literally this morning you both came into the living room together. i thought you and michael spent the night together."

"this morning i came into the living room with jess too because we slept in the same bed, harry. get your mind out of the gutter." i laugh. "plus, why are you so concerned with who i may or may not be sleeping with when you're in love with sierra and everyone knows it."

"i am not in love with sierra. we have a long history."

"a long history." i say in a mocking tone. "that's what they all say."

"she's liked alex for a long time but he's a dick. i don't get it."

"god, we really need to stop rotating through people in our friend group." i laugh and sigh. "i've always kinda wondered about you too."

"why?"

"well... you're kind of an asshole but everyone seems to like you anyways."

"i'm not being an asshole to you now, am i?" he smirks.

"technically no. you've always just sort of stared at me and i felt like you never really cared. i thought you hated me."

"that's far from the truth." he admits. i pick up the joint again and flick on my lighter, taking a hit off the joint and passing it to harry. "do you remember the first time we met?" he asks.
