Bobcat had just got her luggage out the door and was leaning by one of the trees outside. She didn't have much, two suitcases, her small backpack, and a bag of her toiletries. Her granduncle had agreed to come get her and drive to Texas; the convention wasn't for another week but her folks and granduncle agreed to take her to the state earlier not only to let her enjoy the drive but also have her get use to working in the shop he owned. Papa walked behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders, making her jump. The blonde looked up and saw her Papa who then kissed her forehead.
"You got everything?" Papa asked.
"Yep," Bobcat replied, "even got the family phone numbers." She then reached into her bag and pulled out a small notebook and placed it back in the bag.
"Good. Good."
Mama came out a bit afterwards and gave her daughter a hug. She had just gotten off the phone with her granduncle and he should be there any minute now; this was at a rest stop in the central part of Arizona, this call from him.
"Oh I can't get over how much you've grown!" Mama said, still hugging her eldest child, "Can't believe you're going to Texas!"
"Mama ..." Bobcat groaned, "I'm going to be gone for a week or two, it's not like I'm leaving the state altogether."
"I know, but you know how we mothers are. I just hate the idea of one of my baby birds having something bad happening to them and we can't do much."
"I understand Mama. But I'll be fine, granduncle Mike is coming to get me, I'll work in his shop for my time in the state and I'll make sure to call you and Papa when I can." Bobcat explained.
With that, an RV came pulling up in front of the house and out came Mike. He greeted the family and hugged Bobcat.
"How are you doing 'Cat?" Mike said, holding her in a light headlock while she laughed.
"I'm good granduncle. How was the drive?"
"LONG!! Can't remember the last time I've driven that long."
"Glad to see you're doing well," Papa said.
"Hey! Mort! How's the business?" Mike said as he went over and hugged his nephew.
"It's going well, Bobcat's being a big help as always," he added, patting his daughter's back.
"Wonderful news! Very, VERY wonderful!"
"Hey guys," Mama chimed, "If we're not in a big hurry, why don't we hang around for a bit. You're probably tired from the trip, Mike. Probably hungry too."
"Well I would like to check out the house and rest up for a bit," Granduncle Mike said, "Alright, let's just load up her things and we can head in!"
It didn't take long for the luggage to be loaded into the vehicle, once the last bag was loaded up it was into the house for everyone. After that was all said and done, the family headed inside and hung around for a while, catching up, having lunch, and hearing about how the business is going. This continued on for a few hours until the sun began setting, while Mike wasn't in a big hurry to get back, he did want to get back on the road soon. He then informed the family that him and Bobcat should probably get on the road.
The RV was loaded up and they were all swiping goodbyes and hugs.
"You call us when you guys make a stop, okay Oisin?" Mama said.
"Yes Mama," Bobcat said with a sigh and hugged her mom.
"You sure you gotta leave now? You can stay the night if you like," Papa offered.
"I appreciate your generosity Morty but I would like to get back as soon as I can," Granduncle Mike said.
Papa nodded and gave one last hug to his daughter, "Please be careful, okay?"
"Okay Papa, I will," she replied.
Mike then got into the driver's seat of the vehicle and then made a hand movement signaling for the lady to get in.
"Bye Mama! Bye Papa! I love you and I'll call when we stop!" Bobcat said as she hopped in the passenger seat and waved.
Mama and Papa waved back as the RV began to drive off.
'Texas, here I come!' Bobcat thought to herself once the house was out of her sight.
