It was a sunny Sunday, the birds chipped in the apple trees, kids playing on the playground in the large grassy field with a soccer ball. Mia Stemwood, a new police officer in Hurricane pulled into the driveway in front of the large police department. It was her first day doing a real case and she was prepared. Her brown wavy hair in a slick ponytail that complimented her plain pink glossy chapstick on her face. She held a black bag in her hand, filled with things she needed for the day. Mia pulled her belt that uncomfortably was tied around her slim waist up, adjusting it to her comfort before walking up the stone steps of the department. Large birds flew overhead below the clouds making the aura of the scenery peaceful. Mia open the glassy doors with a strong push, almost stumbling over as she tripped inside. Her flashlight collapsed to the floor in front of her. A tall man stood towering over her, his glasses shining from the bright lights that were on the ceiling. Mia nervously smiled as she grabbed her flashlight that fell off of her belt. The chief of police was standing right in front of Mia. "Hello, Mrs. Stemwood." The chief greeted, looking her up and down. "Seems like you stumbled inside, huh?" Mia giggled, trying to brush off her embarrassing moment. The chief's plan name badge shined, 'Officer Miguel' it read. The place was spacious, it smelled like paper and wax. The other officers worked at desk or stood around. The place was brightly lit with white lights on the ceilings. She walked with the chief to the outside of an investigation room. "Mia, this is your first case I've told you about. You are about to confront one of the managers that work there. Remember what I taught you. Detect lies, don't fall for tricks." Chief Miguel explained. Mia nodded in delight; she was excited for her first case. She opened the door slowly with her heart thumping fast like it would burst out of her chest if she didn't control herself. It was a blank white room with lights overhead, a table in the center. Sitting at that table was a man, he had shaggy brown hair with light blue eyes and light skin. He looked emotionless and tired. Mia sat down across from him. I could be sitting right in front of the murderer, be alert. Mia told herself. She grabbed a paper off the table and read it over. "Scott? Scott Cotton?" She blurted out, breaking the endless silence. The man, known as Scott, grinned. It looked as if he was going to speak, but held back. Mia didn't want to make eye contact with his dull blue eyes. It creeped her out with him just staring directly at her blankly. "Scott?" Mia said, trying to get his full attention. He finally snapped out of day dreaming and his eyes lit up. "Yes, that is me. Manager of Freddy Fazbear's but not completely the owner." Scott replied. Mia grabbed her notebook and wrote that down. She needed to gather as much information as she possibly could about Scott. "Have you worked with anybody while being manager at the location you applied to?" Mia nervously asked. Scott took a moment to answer, his eyes locked on Mia's gaze. "There was some employees. I was hired by Henry Emily. After he died I was the manager." Scott said in a careful, even tone. Mia scribbled that down too. It wasn't enough, Scott wasn't fully answering her. Mia was starting to get aggravated with Scott. "Be honest, were you involved with the murders?" She asked politely. Scott licked his bottom lip, he let out a huge sigh. "No, I wasn't involved. I saw blood in the storage room, but, I didn't see bodies. I am truthful." he said. Mia scribbled one last thing down before Chief Miguel walked in the tiny room. He pulled Mia out of there, they both walked back outside the room. "Did you write down anything?" He asked, snatching the mini notebook from her hands. He adjusted his glasses as he read her neat handwriting. He smiled at her gently, Mia flushed with a tiny smile back. "You did well. Tomorrow you will have more questions to ask him, sorry if today was cut short." Chief Miguel said while walking with her. Mia was still unsure if Scott was telling the full truth. He seemed like a calm, friendly man that had great experience with businesses. She was unsure, but tomorrow is the big day for more questions. Tomorrow is another day.
