"I got you a pregnancy test," Max murmurs in my ear.
I shoot up from where I had been laying beside him. I wasn't expecting him to say that. He brought it up last night, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. "Where is it?" I ask, smiling as I run a hand through his hair. It's still pointing in all different directions from our earlier activities. Me running my hands through it now is only making it worse, but that's exactly what I want.
The messier his hair is, the sexier he looks.
He grins at me when he realizes that I'm going to take the test. He sits up and leans over the side of his bed, sitting up with his shorts in his hand. He pulls out a box from one of the pockets. "Here." I take it from him.
"This is a big deal," I say when I stand up. "This is literally going to determine the rest of our lives."
"B," Max grins, placing his hands on my hips and pulling me to stand between his legs. "I already know that there is a baby in here," he says, lightly kissing my stomach. I smile and run a hand through his hair again. "We just need the physical proof to make it official."
"I wonder when we'll be able to smell the baby and hear the heartbeat," I smile. Max leans away so he can look at me.
"Really, really soon." He stands up and wraps his arms around my back, crushing me against his body. I link my arms behind his neck, standing up on my toes to get a better grip. He buries his face into my neck, his lips pressing baby kisses along my collarbone. I close my eyes and tilt my head to the side to give him better access.
"I love you," I moan softly.
"I love you too," he whispers, pulling away. He grins as he says, "Now go take that test."
I smile and untangle myself from his arms, heading into his bathroom. I leave the door cracked opening. I open the test and read the instructions quickly, already having a basic understanding of how it's done.
Pee on the stick. Wait X amount of minutes.
So I pee on the stick and tell Max to set a timer for five minutes. I leave the stick laying on the counter, wash my hands, and rejoin Max in the bedroom. "What can we do for five minutes?" I tease. Max smirks, pulls me into him, and falls back onto the bed. I go down with him, and then his lips are on mine.
In the next five minutes, we make out like we never have before. Our already minimal amounts of clothing stay on, but our hands still roam underneath them. I feel like I can't get enough of him. My hands are in his hair, tracing his stomach muscles, hooking themselves around the waistband of his boxers.
All I want is Max. He's the drug that I can't get enough.
The timer on his phone goes off, and he tears his lips away from mine. "No, come back," I whine, trying to force his head back down.
"B," he mumbles against my lips. He starts laughing and says, "We have some news to find out."
"Yeah, but can't it wait?" I whisper, tightening my legs that were already wrapped around his waist to prove a point. I'm on a Max high right now, and there's only one thing that can bring me down.
He presses his lips to mine for one more kiss, and then he fully pushes himself away from me. I groan, closing my eyes as my body starts to crave his touch again. I hear Max go into the bathroom and come back out. I open my eyes and hold my head up. He's holding the stick in his hands by his side. I don't think he's looked at it yet.
I sit up completely as he sits down on the bed in front of me. He has his hand wrapped around the part of the stick that will tell us what we already know. "Ready?" he asks, looking at me.
His eyes are so full of happiness right now, I can't help but to lean forward and kiss him. It's a short kiss compared to many of our other ones, but the happiness radiating off both of us makes it one of the most memorable. "Ready," I say quietly, pulling away and looking him directly in the eyes. I make myself comfortable in his lap, and he holds out the stick in front of us.
I take it from him, and we both look at the results.
"Told you there was a baby in here," Max whispers in my ear, resting his hands on my stomach.
I don't know what to say, so I push myself further into his chest. Suddenly, his hands resting on my stomach feels so much more intimate. "We are going to be the coolest parents on the planet," Max says, and I laugh.
"Heck yes we are," I say, turning around to face him. "How do we want to tell everyone?"
"What? You mean we can't just go downstairs and say you're pregnant?" he says, but I know he's joking.
"No!" I laugh, gently pushing his shoulder. "I want to do something really cute to announce it."
I reach across the for my phone on the nightstand, ending up laying on my stomach sprawled across Max's lap. He lightly smacks my butt, but he's the one that laughs. With my phone in my hand, I readjust my position so I'm laying on my back with my head in Max's lap.
I go onto Pinterest and type cute pregnancy announcements into the search bar. I scroll through them, looking at a few that spike my interest. "What about this one?" I ask Max, holding my phone at an angle where he can see it. He smiles.
"I like it, but we should do something a little different." He tells me his idea.
"That's perfect," I laugh.
"You're perfect," he says, leaning over and pressing his lips to mine.
I giggle and ask, "Do we want to find out the gender?"
"I don't know," Max says, and I don't think he even thought about it. "Should we?"
"I don't know," I laugh. "It would be really cute if it was a surprise, but it would also be fun if we had a gender reveal party. I know Mara would love to throw one for us."
"How about we not decide tonight," Max says, kissing me again. "We can figure that out later. Now, let's just be happy that we're going to have a baby."
I smile, and I move so I'm sitting in front of Max on my knees. "We're going to have a baby," I repeat happily. "I hope the baby has your eyes."
"Why not your eyes?"
"Because your eyes are gorgeous."
"But so are yours."
"I like your eyes better, though."
"Well what if I like your eyes better?"
I shake my head at the pointless bickering, laughing because of it too.
Brynn? I hear my dad's voice. He sound worried, and that sobers me up. Did something happen to one of my siblings?
"My dad just mind linked me," I tell Max before he starts to worry about what's wrong.
Dad, what happened? I ask.
Did you hear about the North Bound pack?
No, I reply. My worry about something happening to one of my siblings is gone, but it's replaced by anxiety about what my dad will say next. I know what he's going to say before he says it.
They were wiped out last night. I think it was the hybrids again.
