Mesmerized

After Nico woke up I was left on guard duty, with no weapons, whilst Keefe and Dex were out looking for ways to get this plane fixed.

"Morning boo bitch," I hissed out snarkily, Nico glared at me his dark eyes penetrating into my own.

"Morning sweetheart, how are you?" He asked sarcastically as he buried his face back into his pillow, putting his back to me. Good thing Dex took my weapons.

"Not going to justify yourself in any way?" I asked it might have happened ten years ago, but to me it was yesterday, right after I watched Keefe die, now he's alive.

"Wouldn't believe me even if I told you." He huffed to the wall, his pale skin having burn marks across it.

"Try me, I watched my best friend die, now he's walking around with one of the sweetest people I know who is no longer the sweetest person I know," I told Nico, I just wanted an answer, he was acting so violently but he was so nice.

"I don't know!" He hissed looking at me, fear in his dark eyes. "Someone controlled me, I couldn't control my own actions, now you can yell at me! I know it sounds like a bull but it's true," Nico muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, for fuck's sake. Nico was being mesmerized the whole time!

"No Nico, I completely understand where you're coming from, I actually know what it was, elves can manifest an ability called Mesmer. You where mesmerized Nico, my foster dad mesmerized Reyna to get her from not hurting me, she caught on we weren't demigods." I explained to Nico, "They must've used a telepath to get inside your head and see your worries, then mesmerized you."

Nico looked at me shocked, his jaw slack. "You believe me?" He asked and I nodded.

"Though it would help if I could go through your memories," I told him, inching closer. Nico bit his lips, frowning.

"You're a telepath?" He asked and I nodded he put his face in his hands, taking deep breaths. "Can you tell me more, before you go poking through my head?" I nodded sitting next to his cot.

"I'm Sophie Elizabeth Foster, I was created in a lab by an undercover elven agency known as the Black Swan, most elves only have one ability, on a rare occasion two. I have five or so, I've kinda lost track." I told him sheepishly, "Keefe, he's an Empath, he kept my emotions in check whilst I was I was with you demigods, Bronte, is an inflictor, he can release an extreme amount of physical pain without touching you." I explained to Nico, "Biana was a vanisher, she allowed light to pass through her cells so she could turn invisible, Dex is a technopath, highly skilled with technology, Fitz also had telepathy, and amunisty, I'm still understanding the second one."

"What about Tam? I've figured out Tam and Linh are twins, though I want to know his powers, you guys don't need Deity's for powers." Nico muttered, brows furrowed.

"Tam is a shade, he can bend shadows to his will, not teleport or anything, he can break people from the inside out with his but of course, us elves don't like that," I told him simply, he just rolled his eyes. "Linh is hydrokinetic, it's kinda self-explanatory."

"Right," Nico huffed his hands over his mouth as he examined the wall with a hundred-mile stare. "I guess we're going to have to trust each other to get back home?" he asked and I bit my lip.

"We both have a different definition of home...Nico." I told him truthfully, Dex is going back to the lost cities, Nico doesn't belong there, his eyes are a plain sight of that.

"So I'm going to your elven world?" He asked painfully, I cringed but nodded, he deflated slightly. Putting his head in between his knees. "I'm sorry, for hurting you." Was all he said after that, I gently rubbed his back. "Just do it, go through my head," He muttered and I once again cringed but I pressed two fingers to his temple. He closed his eyes and so did I.

I pushed forward, coming to his mental blockade, I pushed at it, nothing. I kicked at the keypad to the door and Nico hissed, his nostrils flaring. I decided not to do that, demigods are weird. After pushing a few more times I gave up, I'm not daring anything without a cognate.

"Can you let down your mental block?" I decided to ask, but the face he gave me told me he didn't know he had one, much less take it down.

"Well you had your fun, but I have to go," Nico said rising to his feet, I looked at the son of Hades like he was crazy.

"Where are you going?" I asked in astonishment.

"Don't know, but I really don't want to go to your elven hidey-hole, also, I need to make sure Camp Half-Blood knows I'm alive, I can shadow jump but since we're in Russia, don't think it'll be easy," He explained simply as he shrugged on a shirt and jacket.

"You can't leave!" I scoffed and he looked at me, raising an entertained brow.

"I can..." He said confusedly, looking around the old room we were in. He began stepping towards the shadows and I scrambled up.

"Wait!" I huffed stepping between him and the shadowed corner. He huffed, staring down at me, his intimidating aura boring into me, I swallowed, nibbling my lips as I thought about what I was going to say. "We could really use your help, especially the teleportation thing, Tam can't do that sort of thing, we don't even know where Tam is if he's even okay. Just stay until we can get back? Then we can help you back to Camp Half-Blood." I told him softly.

His jaw clenched as he sorted through his choices, not that he had many of those.

"Fine," He muttered his dark eyes boring into mine, I gave a weak smile. He returned it the best he could.

"So, acquaintances?" I asked and he picked at his eyelashes, hey, I know that nervous habit!

"Aquaintances." He agreed simply.
