I stared in horror my bones frozen in horror, heavy footsteps behind me filled the air but I was too scared to even turn around. Though a large hand on my shoulder shoved me away and I was staring at Dex's muscular back.
Keefe joined my side and Dex knelt next to the body pressing two fingers to their neck. They were too covered in ash and dust to make out their identity but I saw a few strands of thick black hair that had a flew flecks of grey ash in it as Dec hauled him up a pole jutting from the man's abdomen.
"He's alive." Dex choked into the musty air. "Barely, Keefe can you be our Elwin?" Keefe nodded hurrying after Dex as I just stood in the broken engine room. Though when I turned my back a familiar cold shiver ran down my back in the searing hot room.
Shrugging it off, which I need to stop doing. I jogged after Dec and Keefe praying they could save that poor man. Afterall it was their fault the engine exploded and if it was just some homeless man livivng there she wouldnt know how to deal with that. Suck it up butter cup. That dark voice whispered in her head. Rolling my brown eyes I lowered myself into the plane's interior slamming the metal door closed after me then locking it as I made my way over to the ash/dust unidentified man.
Keefe was working on him as Dex made elixir's and other things and Keefe expertly slathered them on, I found it odd that the man who made elixir's with his father in the Lost Cities was stuck with tbe two people who know a lot about healing remedies due to past injuries are all somehow stuck together. The sinking feeling it wasn't a mistake made me almost want to vomit.
Kneeling next to the man's head I gently set my hand on his ashy, rough for head and closed my eyes. No one asked what I was doing it was quite obvious. I was searching his mind.
Slipping into his head I made a choked sound as I slammed into something. It wasn't a wall like Elvin minds. It was a blockade, one that needed a passcode. I frowned pushing out energy into their mind, the passcode on the blockade flashed error and a red hot blast shot me out of their head, I blinked rapidly and looked at my hand, it was wickidly burned, when I touched their forehead though it want hot, I was surprised for many reasons. One because we just found him in an exploded engine and my hand was seared. Also my mind felt fried and steaming, almost...damaged?
Not attempting again due to fear my mind might be melted I stood rubbing my hurt hand along my black leggings. Keefe frowned at me as I did and held out his hand to me. Rolling my eyes I extended my hand to him and he took it rubbing a pinkish slave on it that reminded me of the slave Elwin put on me when Umber shattered Fitz and my bones with our short encounter with the Neverseen.
Keefe instantly went back to work on the ash man.
They brought him to a room underneath the cockpit, the mattress was in surprisingly good condition and clean as they set him down and demanded me to find water and towels. Once again I rolled my eyes and left, but I remembered seeing towels in the cockpit so I ungracefully hauled myself back up and grabbed them, I then peeled back the control panel, something Dex was no doubt going to yell at me for later I grabbed a bucket and held it under a pipe praying it was the water pipe as I elbowed it multiple times before clear liquid exploded from the pipe and into the bucket. Once it was full I lowered myself down and handed the rags to Dex abd Keefe before walking out as they began cleaning up the body.
Hours after the sun set over the horizon Keefe and Dex walked out looking horribly shaken, they motioned me to go in and Dex demanded all my weapons from me, I gave them up with little fuss and when I walked in I knew why.
He wore a pair of Keefe's jeans his pale skin slathered with multiple Elvin remedies and when I saw his handsome pale freace I laughed at the irony. My laugh was dark and cold. It held no humor as anger flared in my gut but I tied it to infliction.
"Well," I chuckled out darkly examining his now clean messy black locks as I walked closer towards him my fists clenched. I can't believe I helped save him! I can't believe I would've felt guilty if he died. Dex was smart for taking my weapons because I really wanted to end him here and now. I wanted to kill him so badly.
When his pale lida fluttered open and his dark onyx eyes met mine he saw the burning rage in my eyes and a crooked smile fell to his lips. "Hello." He purred out stretching with cat-like graze as he rolled over folding one arm behind his head his black hair falling in front of his just as dark eyes and it took all my power not to jump on top of him and strangle, not all my power though. Keefe was holding me back slightly.
"Hello, " I snickered out darkly "Nico Di Angelo."
