Backstory: Orphaned because of an IMC pilot, Joyce was rescued by a Milita SRS pilot, living with the pilots wife till he was old enough to sign up for the Milita, signing up as a rifleman, he fought in 3 battles, one of them being Typhon, where the pilot that rescued him, James Macree died, in his dying breath, the Commander gave Joyce his jumpkit, but his Titan was to damaged, after meeting up with the 9th fleet, he was on standby for the battle of the fold weapon, once he made it back to Harmony, he informed the former commander's wife, who at that moment was officially his adoptive mother, about the commanders death, before he was officially brought on as an SRS pilot, being assigned the titan FS-1041.
