ULTIMA 162: The Beginning (Halo FanBased)

Chapter Six

It was much darker outside, I knew the other people were getting ready for bed, while others were.going out with friends to a local bar. I'm not used to seeing so many people in one place long enough to feel self conscious about myself, and around around.other people. Whenever me and Omega went out, I was used to seeing Elites, Brutes, and other alien species. My escort gave me a satchel of money, he (I think it was a he) told me that Kushina had given me and Omega some spending money, and then there. was a nite inside the satchel.

"Please meet me at the east village gates, your escort will bring you till you can see tye gate about half a mile." I read.

There wasnt anything else written on the piece of paper. Maybe that Kushina did have some information on why that she and Beta looked so similar down to every detail, but the colour of hair. I told Alpha-Omega to tell Omega that I wasn't going to be back till late. I tried to spark up a conversation with my escort, but all that I had gotten was a grunt; he wasn't much fun to speak to.

I looked at the closed shops, with an exception of one or two people having their shops open til they thought that it was time to close. We walked for about twenty minutes or so to reach the eastern gates. The walls were massive and made of stone. The man, or boy, left me as I started in a light jog towards the red haired woman. She looked at me with the same smile that Beta did whenever she seen me; a pang of hurt hit me hard.

"Sorry for asking you of this, but my sister, tye one that you called Beta, was my little sister. She was taken away from us before the land of Waves had been destroyed, and away from my family as an infant." I heard her say.

"Are you retelling me that Beta's home planet is here?" I sounded flabbergasted. "Are you positive about this?"

"Yes, my parents told me this before they were killed in the line of duty. I was eightwhen they told me, but I always felt like someone was missing." She said as small smile crawled onto her face. "I had seen Beta's face, I knew that she was my little sister. For me, I do not have a lot of time, my life is getting weaker and cannot raise my own child. I know that we just met, but I want you to look after my child, if something happens to me."

I felt the sadness in her voice. She wanted me to take in her child if something had happened to her. I nodded yes as she gave me a sad smile. I didn't know how to take care of a child, but I can learn how to. I knew that Alpha-Omega had heard my thoughts, I and can feel his thoughts hurting my head. If Beta and Kushina were sisters, I knew that I were to keep both their legacy going through the unborn child.

I cake back pretty late, the living space was clean and tidy, the.wall patched up, and Omega sleeping on one of the cots in the living room. 'He mustvof cleaned up while I was away l.' I thought to myself as I seen Omega shot up to see me safely back.

"I didn't think that you would hlbe gone that long. What did you do that made your delay?" He asked.

"I had to do some business with someone." I said as I looked at the inviting cot. "And I rather not talk about it, Omega."

"We'll talk about it in tye morning, Ultima." I heard him say as I fell towards the cot, almost missing it in the process.

Sleep came quickly, and I had a seen many sleepless dreams. However, I knew that this night was going to be different. As always, I found myself floating in the abyss, I felt weightless in these dreams. The scenery changed suddenly as I then found myself standing atop a grassy hill side. I looked at my hands to see them smaller, less callous, and much smoother.

"Thomas!" I heard someone shout my real name from the bottom of the hill.

I seen Beta with her longish blond hair, he baby face as I ran towards her with my arms flying about my sides. I was sure that this was not a dream, this had to be real, til the scenery changed again to a battle field. I was charging at an Elite, shooting at him on the front line. My squad SkyLine and Night Fury were making our way to tye Covenant ships, I then noticed John 117 was with us. I really never knew the guy, but I felt that I knew him. Then the scenery changed to a funeral, I wasn't to sure.for who, but I knew that I was with John and Omega, and they were by my side.

I woke up while gripping the sides of the cot, I was covered in cold sweat as I looked out the window to see tye sun rising. Omega was in tye kitchen as I seen freshly bought groceries. I assumed that he used tye money in the satchel to buy the food. I slowly gotten up, not completely healed from my wounds.

"If you are wondering, yes I had used tye money from the satchel. I know that Beta and that traitor Delta were good in the kitchen, but I guess that we have to make do with our own cooking skills." Omega said as he brought me a bowel of steamed rice and vegetables.

"Kushina told me that Beta was taken as in infant." I said.

"Epsolon told me. Apparently that they were talking about that subject while we were sleeping." Omega told me.
