I was trying to dodge tree branches and thorns, still trying to find the mysterious boy. I gave up running about a minute ago and just started walking. I pulled the sleeves of my sweater to cover my hands and called numerous of times out for anybody out here in these woods.

I actually liked it out here, all the green and quietness nature brought. I liked how the sun was peeking through the leaves of the tall trees towering above me. There's a creek back here that I've never noticed before and I loved listening to the water flowing and crashing against the big rocks in the way. Everything at that moment felt right.

I started walking more towards the water stream and th-

I stopped in my tracks and turned to find a boy on a huge rock, throwing tiny stones into the water. I began making my way to him, crushing the brown leaves that covered most of the ground.

He seemed to be too deep in thought and didnt even notice me. I took this time to take in his appearance. He was pretty tall, tan, had brown hair, a jaw line that can slice bread, and was wearing a really loose black sweater and black skinny jeans with some converses. He was cute, no doubt about it.

I got closer to him and one more step toward him , he heard the leaves crushed and snapped his head to me. He looked frightened then his face looked annoyed right after that. He knitted his eyebrows together and he opened his mouth to talk but closed it right after. He took his attention back to throwing tiny pebbles into the stream.

I looked down and contemplated whether I should talk to him.

I walked over to the big rock and sat next to him. He looked at me again and had a confused expression on his face, which I found adorably cute.

I was the one to look away first this time and started small talk.

"Its pretty out here, isnt it?' I said, breaking the relaxing silence.

He looked around and sighed, "Yeah it is."

"Im Malina by the way," I smiled.

He looked at me once more and thought for a minute, "Im Calum." and threw another pebble into the water.

"What were you running from?" i asked bluntly.

He tensed up at my question and clenched his jaws.

"dont worry about it," he answered.

I shrugged it off. It wasnt my business anyways.

"Did you just move here, Calum?"

"Yeah, I did. Like maybe last week."

I raised my eyebrows, "Oh really? Where?"

"A couple blocks from here," he said. "Tell me something Malina, why are you out here?"

"I could ask you the same question." I elbowed his shoulder gently, "but to answer your question, I live in this neighborhood and I saw you running and I got curious."

His mouth formed an 'O' shape and laughed breathlessly. I admired the crinkles at the end of his eyes he had whenever he smiled or laughed.

Suddenly, I yawned and felt a wash of tiredness come over me. Shit, those damn pills.

I was on the verge of just passing out right there on the rock in the middle of the woods, but I couldnt and had to stay awake.

"Malina, do you want me to take you home?" Calum said.
