Chapter 3: Fathers Hand

I sit on my bed brushing my hands though my hair, why did Sassy kiss me then run away? She had been gone for a few hours maybe she went to her room or something. This are going to be awkward from now on but it was nice, not one of those kinds of kisses like your kissing your parent, but a kiss that made sparks fly, I can’t explain it. I stand up and walk over to the table in the corner of the room next to my closet and pick up the small key with the chain around it, it was long enough to be a necklace, I wonder what it could be used for. I slipped the chain around my neck and walked out of my room, I can put my clothes and other things away after I walk around to see what we have here. Two women laugh as they spin around in bright pink dresses; I have seen the design before. My mother had designed it; the dress was knee length with matching shoes, purse, and jewelry.

          “How do we look?” the one with brown hair asked

          “You both look beautiful.” I smile looking behind them.

          The other squeals and clenches the firsts hand and rushed down the hall and goes into one of the rooms, people must have found my mothers store, I should go buy some new suits. The elevator dings and I step inside pressing the button marked with one, it started shooting down until it stopped on the seventeenth floor. Two big men step inside and stand on the side of me, one of them that almost killed Sassy and I this morning, the other must be another claw. He was about the same size but a little shorter and he had on all black, and a leather jacket.

          “Think that girl is dead?” the short one said.

          “I think I killed her off, if she isn’t dead she will be in the morning.” The other said.

          “Desmon, I just have a bad feeling about it.” I turn my head when one of the names is said.

          “Nico, she is dead!” the doors open and the three of us walked out, the two claws exiting the hotel, and myself going to the store where my mother was handing out receipts and change from the counter. Many men and women held dresses and suits; the changing rooms were full of people eager to see themselves in the dresses and suits.

          “Hello darling.” My mother smiles as she hands a dress over to one of the women at the counter.

          “Hello how is business?’ I laugh as two men pick up suits from the rack. Some women come out from the dressing rooms to show their friends their dresses; one was wearing purple, another wearing yellow, and the last wearing red.

          “Busy, people are loving the store, I haven’t had the store empty once!” she hands money to a man and a woman with a child close behind them. I pick up a shiny black suit my size.

          “Family discount?” I pick up two more and rest them over my arm.

          “Of course, you get free clothes.” She hands a pair of shoes to a man with gray hair and a cane.

          “Thanks mom.” I run out of the store and bump into a man who was bigger than me. My father standing straight up as if nothing had ever happened hit me across the face.

          “Watch where you are going Axel, or some people might get hurt understand?” I press my hand to my face and nod.

          “Yes father.” He looks me over.

          “Hit the gym, you are looking weak, someone could kill you with one hand if they wanted to.” He pushes me down and walks away like he didn’t even do it. People were just swarming the lobby to even realize that I was pushed down by a person bigger than I was. I looked around for the suits that fell to the ground; one fell next to me, another in the pond, and the last on a chair.

          “Yes sir” I scoop up the suits and keep one hand on my face and walk over to a mirror and removed my hand from the right side of my face. A red handprint was on my face and a small cut was reopened from one of my other father’s attacks. I wipe the blood onto my hand and slowly walk over to the elevator and step inside.

          “Hello Axel.” The girl crosses her arms, why did she come here of all people why did she have to live in my hotel. Paige Night smirks when she looks at the blood on my face, “Daddy beat you up again?” her baby voice annoyed me so bad, she was just as bad as her brother Jasper, both had light brown hair and snotty attitudes. Both had brown eyes and were skinny and popular at school, only because if they don’t get their way they make someone pay.

          “Paige, don’t you have somewhere to be? Like picking on a baby about its candy or something?” I wipe more blood onto my hand.

          “No, Jasper and I are going to our old house and get some extra money.” I roll my eyes they think that they are the richest people in the world.

          “I really don’t care.” The elevator stops on the twenty ninth floor, “Ohh you’re not good enough to be on the thirtieth floor I see? Well this one is fine too.” She stomps her foot and marches her way down the hall as I shoot up and onto the thirtieth floor. I couldn’t use my hand anymore due to the fact that it is now stained red with blood. I set the suits down and pull out my key card and wait for the beep, when I go inside I see a piece of paper reading, “Dear Axel, I am really sorry for kissing you I don’t know what happened just being close to death made me scared and I just didn’t want to die without having my first kiss, from Sassy” I set the paper on the table and get a washcloth for my face and hand, my dad is too rough sometimes he needs to learn that I an not a punching bag at the gym and neither is my mom, I have seen some of the marks on her arms and legs, he has hurt her and she just sets back and ignores it. I set on my bed and curl up and play with the key that was on the table, I wonder where it goes? The time ticks by and then it is around seven o’clock before I climb out of bed and decide to get some food. I walk over to the call box on the door and press the button with the food on it.

          “Hello I would like a burger with fries please, along with some Blue Blitz.” The man taking the orders said that it would be about ten minutes and then it would be sent up by a person named Ash. This will take forever; with thousands of orders piling up by the minute has to be annoying. A knock is heard from my door, it must be the food.

          “It’s open!” I call out tossing the bloody rag into the bathroom.

          “Hello my name is Ash, did you have the burger, fries, and Blue Blitz?” he picks up a tray and a cup

          “Yep that’s me.” I take the plate from him, “How much?”

          “It is free for the first week for all guests; the price will be raised soon.” He smirks and evil smile and pushes the cart out of the room. I set down at the table in my room and set up my plate pouring some salt on the fries and putting ketchup on the burger. I take a big bite and the ketchup runs down my shin and splats onto my pants.

          “Great, just great.” I wipe most of it up and eat some fries. I hear a knock again, ugh who could that be? I stand up after dinking some of the Blue Blitz and opening the door. Sassy stood in front of me with a band aid.

          “I saw what your dad did to you.” She hands me the band aid and walks inside. “I know where that key goes, want to see where it leads?”
