minho was tired.
he was dragging himself through the school hallways, heading towards the cafeteria. he probably had dark circles under his eyes, but he didn't care much right now. the only thing making him feel better was the fact that it was friday.
he hadn't seen hyunjin the whole week. it felt weird, he had been so used to seeing him nearly everyday by now. now it felt like hyunjin had just disappeared, and minho was worried for the other.
minho felt like shit. it was his fault. he had ruined their friendship.
minho got to the cafeteria, and went to the line to pick up some food. he got his food and started to walk deeper into the cafeteria. he saw felix, seungmin and jisung sitting with chan and changbin.
"hey minho, come sit here!" felix yelled at him, motioning for him to walk to the table.
minho looked confused for a second, but walked closer to the table and then sat down next to seungmin.
"hi minho" chan said, smiling at him.
"hi" minho said quietly back to him. he noticed that hyunjin wasn't sitting with them.
"is hyunjin not in school?"
"yeah, he hasn't been the whole week. he's not telling what it's about, but i guess he's not feeling well" chan said.
"oh, okay" minho answered. hearing that made his heart kind of ache.
minho looked down at his food, poking it with tired eyes. he really didn't feel like eating right now.
"hey" jisung said softly to minho, the others having their own conversation in the table. minho lifted his gaze up to look at him.
"hi" he said back.
"you okay?"
"not really."
jisung frowned. "has he answered you yet?"
"no."
jisung forced a small smile on his face. "i'm sorry."
"it's fine. now, i don't really feel like talking about him" minho said, finally shoving some food in his mouth, to distract him from the topic.
jisung nodded. "okay."
minho was chewing on his food and turned to look at felix, who was smiling while listening to changbin telling him something. he had noticed they were getting along pretty well nowdays. not even long ago, felix was always complaining about changbin annoying him. he was glad that at least they were getting along.
minho couldn't stop thinking about hyunjin though. he knew he was being stupid for thinking about the other boy, but he just couldn't stop. he felt even worse when he thought about what hyunjin might be feeling right now. he was probably all alone, confused, and maybe felt even worse than what minho was feeling.
"i'm done eating, see you around" minho said suddenly and stood up, leaving the table. the others looked confused, jisung getting up as well and walking after minho. minho returned his food tray and jisung did the same after him.
minho walked out of the cafeteria, jisung walking behind him. the hallways were empty, as everyone were still inside the cafeteria.
"minho!" jisung said, but minho didn't stop. jisung jogged to him and took a hold of minho's arm, turning him around to look at him.
jisung worriedly looked at minho, who was looking down to the ground. he looked tired, and like he was on the verge of tears. jisung put his hand on minho's cheek, minho looking up at him with big eyes.
he just felt too tired in the moment and jisung was there, looking at him so worriedly, so he just let it go. he let a few tears drop from his eyes, going down his cheeks, and let jisung pull him towards his chest.
jisung was hugging minho, who was just standing there with tears falling from his eyes.
"ah, i'm so tired of crying.." minho said.
"cry all you want, i'm here" jisung said softly. "i'm worried about you, you know?"
"i know. i'm sorry" minho said. "i just feel so bad. it's all my fault."
jisung pulled away from minho. he took a hold of minho's chin and turned his head a bit so that he was looking at him in the eyes.
"listen to me" jisung said. "it's not your fault. okay?"
minho was sniffling, looking at him with doe eyes.
"it's not your fault. he's just probably really confused right now, don't blame yourself. i'm sure he will come to you soon."
minho nodded, trying to calm down. he wiped the tears from his cheeks, taking a deep breath.
"when did i become such a crybaby?" minho said with a light chuckle.
"you've always been one" jisung said, smiling at him.
minho hit him on his shoulder. "no i haven't!"
jisung let out a small chuckle. "okay, okay."
minho was now smiling. he didn't say it often, but jisung was so important to him. minho didn't know how he did it, but he always managed to make him smile. he was so thankful for that, for having a friend like jisung besides him.
"what are you thinking about?" jisung asked.
minho looked up, shaking his head slightly with a small smile. "nothing" he said, and then gave jisung a hug. jisung was a bit surprised by the action, but hugged him back.
"thanks" minho said, resting his head on jisung's shoulder, still sniffling a bit.
jisung smiled. "always."
after that, the day went by pretty quickly. minho wasn't feeling that down anymore, and tried to distract himself by studying when he got home later.
he was sitting at his desk, math books out in front of him. he checked his phone, and frowned slightly as he didn't have any new notifications.
minho heard a knock on his door, turning his head to look at his mom walking in the room.
"hey sweetie" she said, a bowl of watermelon slices and some peanuts in her left hand and a cup of warm tea on her right hand. she put them down on the desk in front of minho.
"you're studying so hard, remember to eat a bit. it's already past 9pm, remember to go to sleep early too, okay?" his mom said.
minho smiled at her, nodding his head. "okay, mom."
his mom smiled, and gave a kiss on top of his head. "good night" she said.
"good night" minho said, watching as his mom left the room and closed the door after her. minho took a slice of watermelon in his hand and started eating it. he got surprised as he heard his phone bing, telling that he had gotten a text.
he put his watermelon slice down and wiped his hand on his pants before picking up his phone. his heart skipped a beat when he realized who the text was from.
hyunjin: hey, minho. i want to talk to you. could we meet at the park near your house soon, at 10pm?
minho was looking at the message with wide eyes. he checked the time, 9.31pm.
oh shit, oh shit minho started to panic. he wasn't ready for this, but he knew he couldn't escape his problems either. he quickly wrote in an answer to hyunjin, throwing his phone away to his bed right after he clicked send.
minho: okay, see you soon.
