Ji Xiaoli had a glance at her phone. It was 6:20. The drawings were merely finished, and it was just the first draft.
Knock off.
She went to the restroom to check her makeup, which was neither plain nor exaggerated. She put away the makeup box and went out of the door of the company.
Today, she wore a pink tweed overcoat prepared by her mother. Before she left home, she remembered her mother’s words, "You are 25 years and your sister is two years younger than you. But she already has a boyfriend. You shouldn’t muddle along like that anymore. Aunt Zhang, my colleague, introduced a very good man to you. He is a returnee. You have to seize the opportunity!”
“Mom,I don’t want to find a boyfriend?!”
“It's not negotiable. I've agreed on it! Today is Friday and you have nothing to do in the evening. The man will be waiting for you at Jane Eyre (a coffee shop). At seven o'clock, don't be late!”
The giggles of her sister seemed still echoing beside her ears: “Xiaoli, Qin Zheng and I got engaged at the end of last year. You don’t want to date because you still love Qin Zheng, don’t you? He's already with me. He's my boyfriend. You can't miss him all the time, you know?”
“If you still want to reconcile with him, you will be a paramour!”
She compromised.
“Don’t talk any more, and I will go to the date tonight!”
Ji Xiaoli sighed solely and she could not tell whether she felt more bitter or more disappointed. They were her family members. It’s true. After all, the child adopted was different from one's own.
Mother urgently married her out in order not to let herself harm the relationships between Qin Zheng and Ji Xuewei. If she got married and left the family, she would be just like the water that had been splashed out. And even if she was intent on colluding with Qin Zheng, maybe she didn’t have the opportunity.
However, everyone neglected one thing that six months ago she and Qin Zheng were true lovers. But now, everything was upside down.
“That's fifteen yuan, miss.”g
Seeing that she had no reaction the driver made offers loudly.
Ji Xiaoli came back to earth in embarrassment then took out fifteen yuan from the wallet and handed it over.
On arriving at the cafe, she was led by a waiter to the designated number table. The man had actually arrived. He was thin and tall, with crew cut, square face, and a pair of wire-rimmed glasses on the face.
Judged from the appearance she has no judgement.
“Miss Ji, I’m Yuan Zhigang.”
“Ji Xiaoli.”
Ji Xiaoli noticed a cup of Mocha had been put on her table. And her nose was full of a strong fragrance of milk. She looked up at the man opposite, and some doubts arose.
“I did some preparation before I came. Aunt doesn't like the dull coffee, but the Mocha. So I ordered for you.” The man smiled, in which was hidden a trace of indescribable strangeness.
Ji Xiaoli said nothing except thanks.
“What is your occupation?”
Ji Xiaoli shallowly drank the Mocha. Heavy milk flavor filled her taste bud and she took a deep breath contentedly.
