Emilia turned to look at him, hoping she could persuade him. "I can't tell him..." She let out a shaky breath, before looking back at her friend that was sleeping. " River...how can I tell him that me and you..." A pause was made before she continued. "Are soulmates..."

Now...

After their little argument the rest of the car ride was silent, with the gentle music playing in the background. Emilia avoided eye contact with him, while he stole a few glances at her. The silence grew as builds started to pop up. Then slowly but surely a few cars showed up on the road, now their car was not so lonely in the mists of the empty tar road. As they drove, the road seemed to turn into a one-laned road. Now there were little shops popping up more and more. With a few more turns, traffic lights and stop signs, they arrived at the hospital. Even if it was probably an hour too late for that, they still decided to take him to the hospital.

As soon as the car was parked, Emilia didn't hesitate to hop right out. She hurried along to the back door of the Jeep. Opening the door to see her best friend still passed out on the seat, sprawled across like a blanket. Once River got out of the car, getting their friend out was a lot easier. Though as much as Emilia wanted to help, she wasn't yet strong enough to carry her male friend. So it ended up that River did the heavy lifting, carrying his friend in his arms. The two walked inside, the hospital and once they did it didn't take long for someone to run out with one of those rolling beds. A lady told River to lay his friend down on the bed, and follow them inside to make sure their friend was still alive. "You two please wait here, while we check out your friend and see if he's okay." The warm looking nurse told them, then she hurried over to the room where Alec was brought too.

The smell of disinfectant wipes, and hand sanitizer filled the waiting room of the beige and white hospital. Though it smelled clean and safe, Emilia still worried about her friend dearly. She shook with nervousness and anxiety, thank goodness her soulmate was there to hold her hand through it. Emilia wondered how she was going to tell his parents, if they didn't know already. Would they not trust her as his friend anymore?

The same thing went for River, though he was slightly less freaked out than her. He believed, no he knew that his friend would be okay. There was no way this could be anything too serious, right? Oh no, now he was beginning to stress over this, when in fact this situation was nothing serious in the first place. An hour passed by like nothing, and still no answer from the doctor or nurses. Did they forget about them sitting here, or was Alec's situation more than they thought. Either way they sat there with their hearts in their throat, sitting patiently as the seconds ticked by.

About thirty minutes later, a doctor with curly brown hair came up to them. She had a name tag that said "Maria" on it. Smiling softly at the two worried friends, she waved them over. "Come! You can come see your friend now." Not wasting any time they both leaped out of their seats, and walked over to Alec's room. Once the two of them entered, the first thing they saw was that he was hooked up to an IV. Alec was still asleep, dark circles were clear under his eyes. They stared at him, mostly because they haven't seen him in a hospital bed before. Suddenly the doctor, Maria snapped them out of their daze with information on him. "Okay so your friend...Alec, seems to have passed out from lack of sleep and the x-ray showed that he hasn't been drinking enough water either. Though we haven't figured out how and why his headaches started. Nothing came up when we checked him, no medical history of chronic migraines or anything like that. So we would like him to stay for at least a few more hours, until he wakes up. Then we can ask him some questions." With that said, she turned to the door but then she stopped. "Oh and we called his parents, they said they would be here in about fifteen minutes." Then she left the room. It was filled with the silent beeping of the machine that was hooked up to Alec.

The two of them sat down on some chairs by the window, Emilia looked exhausted as all hell and it showed very clearly. "Hey...you should get some sleep. We have class in a few hours anyway." River rubbed her back, seeing that it made her relax a bit. She hesitated a bit before she rested her head on his shoulder. At that moment he stopped rubbing her back, and just combed his fingers through her mocha brown curls. It seemed to help her close her eyes, but she still wasn't asleep yet. So he decided that maybe talking would help. "Heh, remember the first time we felt our soul link." In return, she nodded as a response. He took that as a sign to continue, so he did. "At the time I didn't know what it would be. Maybe a mark or tattoo on my body, but no...I got someone's thoughts. I kept thinking of Alec, if he was okay or if he did his homework. It was weird since I never worried about him like that. Honestly I thought I was going crazy or something. That's when I started to think that he was my soulmate." When he said that he felt her stiffen, "Though at our last year of highschool I started to think about myself, which I never really did. Those thoughts came when I began to hangout with you more. It was when I heard your thoughts about the study night I invited you too, but that was the time when Alec couldn't make it." River turned over to her, cupping her face in his hands to make her face him. He stared into her bluish brown eyes, daring himself not to drown in them. " That was when I knew you were my soulmate..." Her face was tinted with pink, as he began to close the gap between them.

The beeping of the machine grew faster, though neither of them noticed until, "Wait...What!" Their wide eyed friend was sitting up in the hospital bed, a look of shock covered his face but most of it was horror. Alec was now awake, and had heard everything his friend had said.
