It was Monday. Freaking Monday. She didn't feel like going to school. One, because she was feeling terrible, she could throw up or something. She was generally sick, she'd need to pass by at the clinic to have herself checked or something. Two, she didn't want to bump into that Tony because she needed to apologise but was too proud to do so. Then there was her friends to face... whatever that meant but she just didn't want to see them.

Minutes later she was heading downstairs where Anna was having breakfast with David and mama. She fetched herself a glass of water and took her bag and headed out. She started her car and Anna joined her minutes later.

When she got to school she had a few minutes to spare so she headed to the school nurse. The whole school was buzzing about the upcoming prom. She didn't even know whether she still had Chad as her prom date or not.

The nurse gave her some paracetamol tablets for her headache and some other meds she knew nothing about. The bell rang just as she had taken the drugs and she rushed to her first class. She bumped into a janitor and she nearly screamed when she saw it was that weird woman from the police cells. The woman took the next corner and when Jess followed, she was nowhere.

She went to class a few minutes late but thankfully the teacher was yet to arrive. Chad was at his usual seat but didn't even wave at her. She turned to see him on his phone typing madly. Her eyes met with Tony's and she quickly turned away. Her phone vibrated and she quickly checked hoping it was Chad. It was Sam.

What's up? You seem lost.

Nothing really Sam, not feeling well.

Okay, but Amy and I have some things to tell you.

Can't wait!!

She turned to face Sam and smiled.

During lunch, she was quite distant. She wasn't paying much attention to what Amy and Sam were saying. She only picked out pieces, Sam was back with Ryan and that Amy had had pretty nasty conversations with Sean but he was nice anyways.

"Oh, come on Amy. You're saying nasty conversations because you're embarrassed of admitting that you guys were--"
"You're disgusting Sam. He just has a twisted sense of humor. And I like it."
" You love sexting, isn't it?" Sam burst out laughing. "Naughty nerd. Is that what you were doing with your forty year old online dates? Sexting is the word or am I wrong?"

Amy threw a fry at Sam who was beyond herself in fits of laughter. Suddenly they noticed Jess was quiet and was picking at her lunch with no interest.

" What's up Jess? "
" Nothing Sam. I think I'm going crazy you know."
"Why would you even think that?"

Jess went ahead to tell them about Friday and that woman.

" I didn't see her when I took the corner. I think I'm insane."
" Maybe you should just let that slide. It should not worry you much."
"We're sorry about your dad, Jess. We're here for you whenever you need us okay?"  Amy added.

"Thanks guys. By the way, of late I've been feeling a bit sick and what the nurse gave me doesn't seem to work."

"How exactly are you feeling?"  Amy asked.
" I dunno, somewhat dizzy and tired. Then I just lost my appetite and I always want to throw up."

" Have you tested for--"   Sam started.
" Sam! How could you think that? Jess, it may be malaria... Ignore Sam, okay?"
" Sam, d'you think I may be pregnant?"
