Even at the worst of times, we always have a special someone who's shoulder has always been available to lean on to. For Jess, however, it wasn't different. Papa was always there, but not this time. She had always been comforted by his soothing words.
" Lo siento mama. Daddy's always here for you."She could swear that's what he would say. But how could she expect such sweet words from a man who ditched them over another woman's family? What betrayal!
The sky rumbled and as she neared her house, she jumped off the bike and got into the house. She knew mama wasn't home and David was probably home with Anna. She went upstairs silently, ignoring their presence in the living room.
" How was the party, Jessica?"
Her mind was already made. She knew she couldn't stay here any longer. Mama would kill her and there was no way she was letting that happen. She got into her room and slammed the door shut, knowing David would not rest till she talked to him. So much with playing the daddy role... She opened her wardrobe and grabbed a few clothing and stuffed them in her backpack. She took all her savings and put them inside her purse. Her phone buzzed endlessly. Probably fake-Amy or maybe that freak Tony. She had no time for them. She switched off her phone and scribbled a note for her mother and threw it on her bed. She went passed David as she made her way downstairs.
"May I know where it is you're going young lady?"
"No David, it's none of your business."
"I suggest you tell that to your mother because she's on her way here." He said grabbing the house landline.
"Excuse you!" She said snatching the phone from him. "You won't dare do that."" Then you're not leaving until you tell me where you're headed to. Look at the time for goodness's sake, you shouldn't be out and--"
"David, I'm not ready for a lecture, especially not from you. First you're not my father and I don't like you. You're my mother's boyfriend and it ends there! So I'm going and you're not going to stop me."
She opened the door and rode away with the bike. She wasn't sure where she was going to. Aunt Gabriela would understand but she'd tell mama anyway. Plan B was just run away and just... disappear. Plan B was a terrible one but aunt Gaby was no better. She rode to the subway station. She needed to buy time as she debated on where to go and what to do.

Tony pulled up at his house and got out of the car. Suddenly he wanted to apologise to Jess for a reason he had no idea about. He just felt that's what was the proper thing to do even though it was supposed to be the other way around. He crossed the street towards Jess's house. Halfway across the street, Jess's mother opened the door suddenly and he froze in his tracks. He didn't know what to do. Continue walking towards her house or just walk away? His phone beeped. Amy. Found her yet? All this was somehow Amy's fault, well, according to Sam but he wasn't taking sides with anyone right now. Nope. If I do I'll tell you. He quickly typed and slid his phone back into his pocket. His phone beeped again but the shouts from Jess's mother caught his attention.
"Where's my daughter David? "
"Antonia, I already told you I dont--"
"Just shut up! Did she tell you where she went to? Was she crying? Did you tell her anything bad? Answer me David! I'm talking to you!"
