~two months later~
Sub walked along the streets of a small village the strange man called home. He looked at the market area with out interest. People desperately trying to sell their goods to support their family. With out knowing he aimlessly wandered into the market trying hard to remember what the man had told him. 'Never leave the village. Be back before sundown. If anyone calls your name run.' This commands echoed in his head over and over again.
In the background people were yelling at him telling him to go over to their shops."Move it kid!" A voice yelled at him before pushing him off the street. He was pulled from his thoughts when he hit the concrete. His hands began to give off a burning feeling making Sub's head hurt. He felt a pair of eyes on him and a strange instinct took over. He pulled his knees to his chest and began to hyperventilate.
"Trevor! C'mon, we need to sell these jackets before the king has my head!" The man who pushed Sub hissed. Sub looked up to see people no longer staring at him, but the man behind him. Sub felt the man pick him up hearing his bones make snapping noises.
"It's almost sundown." The man said placing Sub on his feet.
"S-sorry." Sub said plainly. He received a slap causing him to stumble backwards into someone.
"You have no right to feel apologetic." The mans wooden head stared down at Sub almost in pity. Sub looked down at his shoes like they were the most interesting thing in the world. He hadn't realized he saw leaning on the person be hind him until they rested their hands on Sub's shoulders.
"And what are you?" The man scoffed at the person be hind Sub.
"I could ask the same thing." The voice sounded familiar but Sub couldn't question it. Sub slowly and hesitantly walked back to the man hiding behind him making him laugh.
"I'm Sub's partner one could call it." The permanent smile and hollow eyes sending chills down the boy.
"Sub." The boy looked over at Sub standing by the mans side. "Ethan and I have been looking everywhere for you." The words seemed to pass right through Sub. This words held no importance for him to remember.
"Ah, now I know who you are." The man said darkly. "Trevor. You seem sleep deprived."
Sub stared blankly at the raven haired haired boy. His emerald eyes almost foggy, clouded over."I have enough energy to kick your ass." The boy hissed not realizing his father fleas from the scene like everyone else.
"You need sleep to grow big and strong." The man teased. The boy's face turned red as he glared at the indestructible man.
The man took Sub ignoring the boy's death glare and walked to a half burned down house.
