Lucien wasn't supposed to be around today, but he was, sitting at the front door with a steaming cup of coffee cradled in his hands. Quinn had almost gotten out the door, but was poleaxed when his father cleared his throat.

"Oh! You're here," he said, frowning a fraction.

"Yes. I realised we haven't had a chance to talk about what happened that day and the Council's final verdict of the situation."

"Oh," he repeated, a deflated reply. "Can't we talk some other time?"

"Where are you in a hurry to?"

He couldn't tell him the whole truth and be sure he wouldn't react poorly. "Um, to Mikey's. . . I mean Mikhail's. For. . . bonding?" Once again, no tact. But at least his father used to eat that up in the past. Fingers crossed, then.

Lucien stared at him intently, but Quinn's face remained impassive. "Okay, you can go. But can't I get at least one minute with you?"

He sighed in slight annoyance, glancing at his watch. "Fine. One minute." He sat across from him.

"Quinn, I know you don't understand it yet, but the power you possess is a force to be reckoned with."

Mmm hmm. Sure, he thought. "Look, I'm sure they made some sort of mistake. I mean I still have trouble using my regular powers, talk more of my ‘super’ powers."

Lucien shook his head. "You don't understand. The power you have is still raw and unrefined. If you don't handle it carefully, you risk hurting everyone you love."

He rolled his eyes at this cliché warning. "Come on, Dad. You realise I'm just going to my friend's house and not on a mission to save the world, right?"

"Just promise me you'll be careful."

He chuckled and stood up, offering him a phony salute. "Will do, instructor."

Lucien maintained a solid smile till his son walked out the door. "Yeah, good talk." He had some sorry of premonition and he didn't like it. Not one bit.

"Finally," Peyton yelled. "The life of the party is here." People cheered as Quinn walked through Mikhail's front door. He hooted loudly over the music and slapped hands with some of the guys that gathered round him.

Mikhail flung his arm across Quinn's shoulders and laughed. "Was afraid you wouldn't make it. You are a little late, though."

"You're only late to a party when everyone's left," Quinn told him, shoving himself away from him. "Philosophy 101 right there."

"True that," Liam seconded, fingers linked with Rachel's, walking up to them. When the guys stared at him, they groaned in obvious disgust to the open show off affection between Liam and Rachel.

"We're losing you, man," Peyton said devastatedly.

Liam rolled his eyes and pulled Rachel in for a kiss. Peyton, Quinn and Mikey groaned even louder.

"Keep it PG 13, dude. We're in public." Peyton shielded his eyes.

Rachel smacked her lips and looked at Liam. "I'm going to look for Connie, so just have fun, yeah?" She kissed his cheek, smacked his butt and walked past them.

Quinn studied William's face. "You seem happy."

He beamed. "I am. We decided to make it official. It wasn't right to hide our attraction from our friends, you know."
