As soon Jayce entered the school, his friend Aiden came to his side.
"Hey man. The school's annual masquerade ball is around the corner."
"I know. What about the ball?" Jayce says while opening his locker.
"Well are you gonna ask someone special like the head cheerleader Melanie to the ball?'
"Nah she's too clingy for me."
"Oh how about one of those sisters? Phoebe or Mercedes? They are always trying to get your attention."
"They try too hard for me. I'm just going to the ball solo."
"I respect your decision. Maybe you will find some girl at the ball."
"Maybe." Jayce replies hoping to find Cindy at the ball.

Later that day
Cindy hears the bell jingle above the door and raises her head to see Candice entering the empty boutique. Candice goes up to the counter where Cindy is standing behind.
"Cindy please go the masquerade ball just this one time."
"I'll give you 3 reasons why I can't go. 1. You know Shirley will have me working in this boutique so I definitely can't go. 2. Shirley will kill me if I ditched work and found out that I went to the ball. Final reason, I don't have a dress or a mask for this ball."
"I knew you were going to say those things and you are in luck that I came up with great solutions. Get someone to replace you for the night. Shirley wouldn't know, she doesn't come in here anyways. That also solved problem two. Lastly, hello you work in a boutique full of dresses."
"Shirley will have my head if she saw me buying a dress here." Cindy told her friend.
"That is why I will buy one for you." Cindy looked at her friend with wide eyes.
"You don't have to do that."
"I will do what I please. So pick out a dress."
Cindy didn't argue further. She already knew what dress she wanted. She pointed towards the dress. "That one."
"I have the perfect mask to go along with it."
