Rocks, swinging logs, secret pits, razor sharp blades.
Those were all the things scattered around the mountain Urokodaki carelessly left you and Tanjiro on.
It was pure hell going down; you and Tanjiro constantly got hit by random traps and even fell into a pit. He had landed on you and made your ankle slightly worse, which I tell you, didn't feel good in the slightest. He—of course—heavily apologized for making your fracture ultimately worse.
But that wasn't the point at all; the point was you made it down.
You actually made it down.
You pushed open the sliding door with such force you swore it might've went off the track a bit. "W-We, made it!" You panted out. You both were covered in dirt from nearly head to toe, scratches and bruises littering your delicate skin as well.
Urokodaki looked at you. He still had that stupid Tengu mask on his face. "[Surname] [Name], Kamado Tanjiro, I accept you both as my students!"
You let your eyes roll into the back of your head as you collapse to the floor with a reassured smile.
"[N-Name]! Are you okay?!"
You throw him a weak thumbs up. "Great! I'm great."
You couldn't be happier.
——
Around a few minutes later, you had finally managed to get up from your dazed state and peered upwards. You were in a comfortable futon, Urokodaki and Tanjiro were talking in the other room. Nezuko was besides you.
You get up and look into the room the two resided in. "..trainer. Just like it sounds, I train swordsmen. There are many different trainers in countless of other places. Those trainers use different training methods."
You shuffle in and sat down besides Tanjiro on your knees, just like every sane person would.
Urokodaki didn't spare you a passing glance and kept talking. "In order to join the Demon Slayer Corps, you must survive the Final Selection at Mount Fujikasane." Ah, Final Selection.
Now that, that rung a bell.
"I will decide whether you two will participate in Final Selection."
You and Tanjiro gave off a determined, yet fearful expression. You knew you were going to have to train harder and longer than anything you have endured for your short life span.
This was going to suck.
——
Starting today, I have started writing this journal for Nezuko, and [Name]. Again, [Name] and I descended down the mountain. We both train as hard and as long as we can to guarantee our safety in Final Selection.
We go down the mountain, every day, multiple times a day.
I've become good at avoiding the traps, [Name] is still a bit rusty, but I'm not worried. From the time I've spent with her I have learned she's quick witted, determined and quick to get back up and try again.
I'm growing stronger, and my nose is getting sharper when it comes to picking up scents. [Name] explained to me the other night that she has good hearing, and sight. That's a wonderful combination in my opinion. Sadly, in situations like descending the mountain, she tends to overthink things and tense up. So her senses aren't very useful.
Despite my nose becoming better each and every day, the traps are becoming more deadly.
It's like he really wants to kill us.
