Blaire's POV
"Karter, please tell me you only added two eggs to the batter..." I narrowed my eyes at the four egg shells scattered across the granite counter top from my seat at the kitchen table.
Karter turned her head to face the shells then looked down at her shoes, pushing her glasses closer to her face and nervously kicked around the empty brownie box. "Well, I might've added a few extra..." Groaning, my bare feet dragged me across the kitchen to the big bowl of extremely liquefied brownie batter. No matter how brave I was, I couldn't bring myself to dip my finger in and taste that giant disaster. Her proud, child-like grin announced that she was happy with her new creation, and all i managed to get out was a laugh.
"You know very well that we can't serve these to the boys, right?" I grabbed the bowl, ready to pour it down the sink. Her eyes widened in horror as a weird screeching noise came from her mouth.
"No! You can't! I worked so hard on this!" Karter's lips puckered, glancing back and forth from me and the bowl of brown goo. I sighed and shook my head.
"Let me go to the rest room and I'll see that I can do, okay?" I walked down the hallway of our enormous two bedroom apartment, until my eyes caught a blue flashing light coming from my bedroom. A message from my brother appeared on the corner of my laptop screen.
Ashton Irwin: BlaireBear! We just got off the plane and we're hopping into a cab. See you soon butthole c:
Oh god. They're early! No, no, no, the living room isn't even clean. And my entire look is horrid. No makeup, no bra, bed hair, tank top, and panda pajama pants. I made the mistake of thinking it was okay to sleep in while my roommate, who is a hundred times more attractive than me, was up bright and early doing her makeup and picking out the perfect winter outfit.
I slammed my laptop shit, then rushed into the kitchen to find Karter wiping the now empty bowl with her finger. "They're on their way!" I paused my panicked outburst to glance at the own. "Did you put them in any way?!?
Karter tossed the silver bowl into the sink and shoved me out of the kitchen. "None of that matters anymore, go clean yourself up while I clean the living room. Go!"
I sprinted into the bathroom, my last resort resulting in throwing my hair up into a messy bun, a little eyeliner, and blush. The only outfit I had available was faded grey jeans and a short, loose maroon shirt. The moment I glanced in the mirror, the sound of the front door echoed the apartment. Don't ruin anything, I told myself, you never get to see your brother anymore.
"MartKart!" I heart the familiar voice to be Luke shout. I shook my head, a smile forming on my lips. I absolutely forgot that this was the first time Karter has seen her brother since last year as well. But the thing was, Luke was always finding ways to mess with her and annoy her to his best ability. So you could assume that having her brother visit her and her bandmate's sister's apartment for the first time wasn't her most favorite idea in the world.
"Now where is little BlaireBear?! BlaireBear!" A couple very loud and obnoxious male voices ran out to taunt me with the embarrassing nickname I was given. I took a deep breath in, walking out into the living room. The first pair of eyes I met were a deep shade of brown, friendly, and familiar.
Calum.
My stomach nervously began flipping at the sight of him. Taking in his dark hair, gorgeous brown eyes, skinny jeans and, now, bulking arms. I've known him for over three years, he's one of my best friends from school. Why was this feeling suddenly taking over me? I shook it off, breaking the gaze him and I were sharing to focus on my nine inch taller than me brother.
