The Queen's Rise

After Math

It's been a year since the war and I'm finally eighteen. I've never been more happy in my life. Finally all the lost kingdoms are restored to their former glory and are a part of the maps again. The rest of the empire resistance and supporters were eradicated once they saw what they've been ordered to do to the kingdoms. My now friend and ally Queen Ekua of The White Magic Kingdom is finally in her once beautiful state, she has long white hair and her face and body filled back in, making her look more alive. The kingdoms are finally back in place and they all see me and Ekua and our people as their saviors. But today was the one year anniversary of the empire's fall and the kingdom's freedom and the forest realm was holding the first ever celebration of the new holiday. People from every kingdom, even from the kingdoms we freed joined. It was a vast celebration and we love celebrating in the forest realm.

I run down the colorful streets of the decorated town of my kingdom. I was wearing a green and white high low dress, it flowed through the air as I ran. I wore green in honor of my kingdom and white for the white magic kingdom respectfully. I had my hair done in a Dutch braid. I danced with locals and helped visitors of other kingdoms feel welcome. "Come come! We have all of our local businesses open for everyone and all vandals and crime does have been detained! " Local music was playing as others mingled and some were happily drinking and laughing at unheard jokes. I was happy, the kingdoms were happy and never in a million years did I think I'd be happy with my rule. But lordy Be am I glad I was given the powers and given the crown. I was laughing with a local at the tavern when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and it was Modesty, she was dressed in her nice clothes I bought her a week ago. "Aw modesty, you put those dress clothes on. " She laughs, smiles and looks at me happily. "I'd do anything for my beautiful queen. " She hugs me and kisses my forehead. I turned to the local once more and they said that we were cute together. "Thank you. " I smile and modesty giggles. "Charlie and everyone has a surprise for you. " I looked at her confused. "Oh? Here let me go see it. " I step out the door with her and she takes my hand, together we walked to Charlie's house. She has me close my eyes and I feel her pull me into the house. She lets my hand go and told me to hold still and next thing I know it I'm told to open my eyes. What I saw was he biggest surprise of my life, it was my whole family and my friends all dressed up nice and there was a sign with the words happy birthday. "Since we weren't able to join your birthday party we decided to throw our own for you today. " My mother smiled as she pulled the cake out. It was based on my kingdom, it was absolutely beautiful. "Aw guys, you guys just sending letters was enough. " They all laugh and hand me gifts as we all chat and I open my presents. I was sitting amongst my family when modesty leans down on me. "Hey come with me, I want to give you my present in private. " She had whispered in my ear. I nod and get up with her, pulling me outside on Charlie's back porch. She again had me close my eyes and she let go of me. "You can open them now. " I open my eyes and she was on one knee. "Nettie, you were there for me no matter what. You taught me how to be strong and how to be myself without fear. You protected me and cared for me when I was in need. Nettie Goodwin, will you marry me. " I started to cry and I couldn't help but to jump on her and scream yes. We were a sobbing and laughing mess. We sat up from our hug fest and she slides a ring on my finger, we locked lips and for once in my life I was complete. "You guys can come out now, I can hear you. " My family all laugh and stopped recording us. "Guys! " I was laughing again and I was pretty red.

Hours had passed and I spent most of my day next to Modesty, even when kings and queens would join me I was always near her. Finally my friend, the queen of the water kingdom jumped on me. Queen Katrina was happily swinging me around. "Nettie! " I was laughing with her once she put me down. "I am so happy for your success against the lost empire! " I nod and smile with her. "Thank you, I appreciate it. " She noticed my ring on my finger and she gasped. "My my Nettie! Who's the lucky pick? " I jumped at her words and blushed a bit. "Oh just modesty. " I grabbed modesty's hand and pulled her over and she waved. "Damn, you got a lucky pick. " I made a noise at Katrina. "Hell yeah I did and man I can't wait to be fully married to this chick! " She picks me up and swings me around and I kinda screeched a little. She put my down and Katrina smiled. "You two are absolutely perfect. Good luck being a queen, modesty. " She waves to us as she skips off and I sigh. "Hm, Queen Modesty. I'd have to get used to it. " I snicker at her. "Yes you will, you'll have to. " She laughs. Together we walked back to the castle where royals of all kingdoms were dancing and chatting. "I see you brought a friend. " Queen Michaela smiled at me. "My fiance." I lifted my hand and showed the ring. She gasps and smiles brighter. "I told you Yurchik, those two were most likely to marry. Not her and Charlie! " I choke. "Yurchik! You thought I'd marry my general Charlie?! " His pale face slowly turned red. "I said no such thing. " I giggle at the flustered big man. "Sure you didn't, it sounds just like you. " I giggle with Michaela. "Is this the kind of stuff royals talk about all the time? " I look at modesty. "Not all the time, it's just friend talk. You'll find kings and queens you'd get along with and chat with. " She shrugs. "Or maybe I'll be the antisocial queen. " I laugh with her.

For the next few hours we danced and laughed, we drank and would chat some more. Until the celebration died down and people were heading to bed and cleaning up. Royals and visitors were on their way home while some of us like Modesty and I sat in my room and laughed some more. "God I love you. " We were drunk as hell but we didn't care. "I just want to kiss your adorable face. " Modesty then started a make out session, it was heated but thank the Lord we won't remember. The night went on and it was full of pleasure, I loved my life right now and I wouldn't trade it for nothing.
