Minli, a young girl with short black hair, and dark red-brown eyes. Her grandpa Nick always said she resembled a Phoenix. She always got extremely angry when others insulted her grandpa. Her eyes seemed to glow a bright red when she was angry. She found herself angry, and full of voices telling her to stand her ground, but she couldn't. On her 10th birthday, she picked up a birthday gift and much to her dismay, her hands burnt halfway through the cardboard. "Aw man!" Minli sighed, "This has been happening for the past two years grandpa, what am I supposed to do?" Her grandpa grabbed her hand, "Well, I best go study!" He laughed, and pulled her to the study with him. She had pulled at least sixteen different books about phoenixes and griffins of the shelf before her grandpa told her what she needed. "I-... Minli you only need the Phoenix books." Her grandpa sighed. She put the griffin books back on the shelf and walked over to his desk. That's when she finally pieced it together. "Grandpa..." Minli said, "am I a..." "yes Minli, your half Phoenix." She looked at her grandfather in surprise, she didn't quite understand yet, but she knew there where still Phoenixes out there, and she had to learn from them. Her grandpa nick on the other hand, advised she stay home for at least a year more. And so she did. Her grandpa took her out of school, and got multiple study guides and books about phoenixes. She really wondered where her mother and father had been all these years, when she asked her grandfather this time, he didn't have a lie waiting to be proved wrong, this time he had the truth. "Well Minli, your mother was a Phoenix, a lovely one at that, and your father was a myth hunter, striving to kill and sell mythical creatures, when he discovered that your mother was a Phoenix he took her out to dinner to help with the cover up. He took one clean blow to your mother's heart, and regretted his decision. Later called me, telling me to come and watch you, with no reason as to why. Later that night, he jumped off a cliff, into a vicious river, and He was about to grab your mother, she burned into ashes." Minli looked at the ground "can't phoenixes reincarnate after they burn?" Her grandpa sighed, "if they were killed, and didn't kill themselves, no, they can't." this story about her mom was the tipping point she took the books out of the study and into her room, she started trying to heat bathtubs of cold water with her hands, she tried to heat cups of tea, and even heat dinner plates when they had guests over. She had voluntarily begun training, and she wasn't going to stop until she knew what kind of power she had.
