Chapter 3: New Years Celebrations

Tyler's POV
It's January 1st, 2015 and early this morning at 12am our family set off fireworks along with some of our other neighbors. We had sparklers too and we were all playing on the beach watching the fireworks go off, while our parents sat around, also enjoying the fireworks. Later tonight we're going to have a big New Years dinner and we're inviting a lot of people from the neighbourhood and tons of our family friends.

Tonight we're also video chatting with the family in Hawaii. We haven't heard from them in a while because they're always travelling around for surf and skate competitions, especially now that Korbin's sponsored by quite a few surfing brands. I got invited to quite a few house parties tonight but I couldn't miss talking to them again.

We're all in the backyard helping set up for tonight's dinner and we have music playing on the stereo. Our mums are in the kitchen cooking, and our dads are setting up tables and chairs. Us kids are packing everything we don't need into the shed and making sure everything was tidy. We also put up the lights along the fence and helped put all of the food on the outside table.

Everyone was starting to show up and everyone was feeding off each other's vibes, it was good. There were around 30 people here and they were people that we've known since we were little. We had Skype hooked up from our laptop to a TV outside on the patio and the camera was facing everyone. Couple seconds of ringing later, they pick up and all of their faces show up. Everyone screams "Hey!" and they scream it back.

Korbin: Holy shit everyone's there!
Aunt Kat: It's so good to see everyone! How are you all?
Everyone: We're great! Happy New Year!
Indie: Hey guys we wish you a happy new year also!
Tai: Aww look at all that food!
Aunt Tia: Well nice to see you too Tai
Tai: Hahah you're looking well Aunty
Aunt Tia: So are you!
Uncle Curren: Man we need to come back home
Everyone: Duh!!

I told Korbin to Skype me on his laptop and I'd go on mine. All of us kids went up to my room and gathered around it when Korbin, Indie and Tai popped up on the screen. So us kids could talk with each other on here and the adults could chat outside with Aunt Kat and Uncle Curren.

Me: Bro I can't believe you're sponsored now! That's been your dream since we were how old!
Korbin: That doesn't even compare to you being the player of the year for your rugby team 4 years in a row!
Charlie: far out Tai you're going to be taller than Korbin soon.
Korbin: I'll still be tougher than him though haha
Tai: yeah yeah, whatever.
Indie: Drew! Your hair is so long, oh my god!
Savannah: Tai, yours is getting a bit out of control too haha
Tai: It just grows and grows haha.
Kymani: When are you guys coming back?! You guys go everywhere but here!
Tai: That's what our grandma said, granddad just keeps asking why he doesn't get invited haha but we all know he's getting a little old.
Korbin: hopefully soon though! We get vibed out way too much here! This fourteen-year-old chick told dad off at our house like what the hell hahaha. Dad just laughed and said sorry
Tai: oh man and there's this barney that's been hanging around! You don't get much of those back home!
Ezra: This town needs you guys' back here man, ASAP haha
Indie: You guys know how badly we want to haha how's school anyway?
Me: so good! Damn Korb, I can't believe us three are turning 16 this year!
Charlie: Oh yeah! Are you gonna have drinks Korb?
Korbin: Haven't actually thought about it, knowing you guys, you'll definitely have a big 16th
Charlie: Invite all of Tyler's lady friends
Indie: Ew, like you'd have a chance with any of them haha
Charlie: Oh shut up haha

We talked for hours on end about millions of different things until it got super late and they had to leave. None of us can describe how different it is around here without them.
