Nolan's P.O.V
The loud music from Daina's house wakes me up. It is just 6:30. I couldn't go to sleep after I woke up so I put on my trackpants and get out. I saw a park somewhere near and every person jogging in the street is taking the same route, so I took the same.
''Hey neighbour'' said someone. Wishing for the voice not to be of Daina's I turn around just to get disappointed.
''Hey''
''So...'' Dains trails off.
''You woke me up.'' says Nolan
Daina laughs ''I am so sorry''
''You walk around here everyday?'' says Nolan.
Daina glares at him.
''What?'' says Nolan
''Nothing'' says Diana
Really Dear stranger, you are flirting on our second conversation and you say 'what'? Really? So you find me as intimidating as I find you from the first time I met you last evening? Just kidding. You won't. I think you do. I don't know.
''Lets get going.''
''Yeah''
''So you work, where?'' says Nolan.
"Its a grill. In Martin street. 5 minutes from the park, south.''
"I see'' says Nolan.
"You?" says Diana.
"Its a bookshop in Andrew street. Roth Books'' says Nolan.
''Oh so where did you stay before here?" says Diana "Which city?"
"I am a local. Originally forever in Dublin''
''What does that mean?" says Diana.
" I was born here,my father, grand father and I don't know who else. So basically, I become an original. I love this place, so forever" says Nolan.
"So, where did you stay before?" she says looking into me as if calculating me, knowing the inner layers of me, trying to rush through my outer layers of behaviour.
''Hurdle street. Near the park.'' I say. Her mood shifts from light to grave heavy.
She sits in the park bench. I sit opposite to her.
"Oh'' she says. How should I bring the shy Diana back.
''So, I was thinking, what is the thing with Martin street? Nither someone named Martin lived there nor any big people named Martin had any event here, a big one, you know." I say.
''Thinker. I never thought about that.''says Diana ''A researcher?"
"Not much but I do some researches on nonsense things." says Nolan.
"Expected'' says Diana.
She is staring at a pebble in the ground, her mind in another nowhere around. I don't want to look at her but my eyes are fixed on her face. The pale skin but in a beautiful way, a hint of tan fading away, those cheeks going red from pink. I stare at her and wish that the time would stop right here and I could just hug her, tight and long and suck all the air out of her lungs.
''You play well." that was calculated. She thought so much to say this?
Well. Only well? I played my best yesterday but it was only well for her. I'll do better for her. 'But why?' my other side says.
"Oh" I smile.
She smiles back at me just for formality.
''Listen, I have something important to catch up. See you later.'' she says getting up readily and leaving.
''Sure'' I say waving at her.She too busy to wave and kn a split of second, she walks away and the energy in my body is all gone. As if it has no need to be energetic anymore. Dammit, I just met her yesterday and her effect on me. Nothing 'love' for god's sake but a strong desire to know her and be close to her.
Why did her mood made a drastic change after she heard about Hurdle street? Does she know about what happened? About my nature?
I never wanted it. I can just see her break down.
I look at the watch and its 8:00 am.
Dammit, I have work to go to.
